Anyone ever wonder why they never came out with book novelizations of The Godfather Part II and Part III?

Because it would end up like The GF Returns

A novel can often be expanded upon when adapted to a different medium such as film; but to go the other way, and reduce a rich texture of different elements to mere words adds nothing new, probably takes away from the original even.

Although perhaps somewhat narrow-minded of me, no examples immediately prove otherwise.

Puzo probably thought it wise not to expand on a masterpeice. Leave it be and let film do the rest. A sediment they probably should have kept with the new books.

I think a book covering the modern aspects of GFII would have been great. Find out out some of the minor quibbles and really get into the psyche of characters like Rocco and Neri whose scenes are painfully brief

Sonny - Well then, business will have to suffer, all right? And listen, do me a favor, Tom. No more advice on how to patch things up, just help me win, please
