I bought this game years ago and just recently started playing it again. Its more of a strategy game, not like the GTA or Mafia series.

Anyone familiar with this game?
Anyone know of any other mafia games that are similar? I really wish someone would come out with an organized crime game that would deal with more of building up a family and the economics, i.e.... hiring specialist hoods, running legal and illegal businesses, competing against rival families for turf and going to war if necessary, bribing cops and officials, etc.
For example, the game could start either with you just receiving permission from a godfather to start your own family, or you move to a new city and start a crime family from the ground up.

Let me know what you guys think....I Believe there would be a huge demand for this type of game IMO.

Correction....

Sorry, the name of the game is actually "GANGSTERS: Organized Crime". I have no idea why I typed in Mafia...duh

I know that game, i have played it for many years. I liked playing it, i also played the second game of the series. That one was more story based, i like the first one. It gives you more freedom, in Gangsters 2 you have to follow missions.

Godfather 2 is really something special. If you can take it for what it is, a game easy in difficult that takes several liberties with the storyline, don't take it too seriously. You'll enjoy it for the same elements you mentioned. Just pretend Hyman Roth is based off Santo Trafficante instead of Meyer Lansky, and the Almeida Family is Castro's Army. Everything makes more sense that way.

Or for something more traditional. Try Gangland on PC.

Yeah I redisicovered the game. Thought it was brilliant. A good mix of micromanagement and real-time strategy.

I'd love to see a modern spiritual successor to that game. Perhaps multiplayer. It's definitely one of the only organized crime sims that comes to mind. And I enjoy that kinda game.

The second one I wasn't so fond off. But indeed introduce some neat mechanics. Other then that I found it too rigid and dull and formulaic

I recently completed Mafia. I have to say of all the photo realism games of the early 2st century, it was the finest example of a real life story. The settings were very believable and the characters were all very compelling. The only thing I wish the developers had done, was show more of Tommy and Sarah. Their wedding was amiss and so was their daughter. One scene of each would´ve added a little more depth to the game.

This game is wonderful because it reflects the originality in it.
