maybe tony ducks didnt wanna get wacked by vic and gas or start a beef in case he beat the commission trial or was let off easy he didnt know he`d get 100 years From what I understand, all of the defendants in the commission case knew they were in serious trouble and almost certainly going to be convicted. I believe they were somewhat relieved when Castellano got whacked because it would exclude the tapes from his house. Nonetheless, one of the attorneys later said that Fat Tony and Tony Ducks both made several remarks before the trial that they knew they were going away.

If either moved against him they would be massive underdogs in a war. Ducks was 10x more powerful than Amuso and Casso were at their peaks and at the time they were only captains.

Christy Tick was pushing for Amuso and Casso to take over so that might have had something to do with Corallo not seeking retribution for Luongo's murder. Did Ducks investigate the disappearance of Luongo? I'm sure Casso and Amuso didn;t admit to anything but Ducks had to have known.

Anyone know or have a source on the details of the Luongo hit. I saw Manhattan Mob Rampage, and Vis and Gas evidently hit him at a breakfast meeting. But what did they tell the rest of the Family? What was thEir excuse / reason?
I think Gas denied responsibility in Carlos book.
Anyone ever seen an article or testimonial source?

Anyone ever seen an article or testimonial source? yeah I'm wondering the same thing. It's always been presumed that amuso/casso killed or ordered luongo killed but I have never seen a solid source. I wonder if it's in D'Arco's testimony at all? Something interesting I found though a while ago (I think it may have been discussed on here at some point?) was the 'comments' section on Vic Amuso's entry on www.topmobs.comIn these comments someone who claims to be from the Bronx talks about how Amuso and Casso set up Luongo at a breakfast meeting (Aumso got up, went to get a hidden gun, came back and shot Luongo) and this was a long time before that Manhattan Mob Rampage special was made. I'm no detective but when I saw the 'Rampage' special I thought about what that person said on the comments section - since it was the first i've heard about the "breakfast meeting". Also I've read that Amuso was Luongo's driver. If Luongo was from Throgg's Neck and had all his business up there, why would Amuso from Brooklyn be in his crew? I think it's crazy the amount of damage a handful of people could do to an organization that strong. I've said this a bunch of times like a broken record but look at the Lucchese's from their inception up until the Commission case... they were like a low key powerhouse. Streamlined, tons of old timers, tons of money, "sophisticated" rackets, sitting bosses with long terms - then Casso gets power. Giving D'Arco a list of 50 people he wanted dead, half of them made guys LOL. The FBI should stop wasting our money going after these guys. theres probably enough people out there similar to amuso / casso right now that will eventually climb the ranks and in due time ruin everything their selves.

The irony is that the Bronx leadership (namely through Stevie Crea) is what has given the family a bit of stability in recent years.
what is it about the Bronx (and uptown too) that breeds "the best" mob guys? lol . seriously though. Current Lucchese leadership, current Genovese leadership ... shit even Basicano would have probably made a good boss if we were living in a different era. Then you look at places like South Brooklyn/Carol Gardens area where a lot of the colombos, Casso, that idiot Geritano, etc.. all come from. Must be something in the water uptown
