Here is the aforementioned picture, you see a few Bonanno heavyweights including a young Basciano

Tommy Shots: They want me running the family, don't they know I have a young wife?
Sal Vitale: (laughs) Tommy, jump in, the water's fine.

Yes. For the record, the males depicted are (standing from left to right):
Trinchera´s brother (can´t remember his name right now), Basciano and Philip Giaccone.
Seated (from left to right):
Joseph Benanti, Dom Trinchera, "JB" Indelicato, Frank Lino and Anthony Bruno Indelicato.
These guys were top members of a faction within the Bonanno Family and the Sicilians were alligned with them and they all made tons of money with the heroin. Later on, the Sicilans switched sides and supported boss Philip Rastelli in the conflict with the three Bonanno captains. (Trinchera, Giaccone and Sonny Red.)

Basciano wasn´t made at the time and I believe Trinchera´s brother was never made.

Baratta is currently in a halfway house and gets out Sept 25th.

Why, is the water in Sicily different? rolleyes

In general the Sicilians have a higher body count than he Americans but that can be explained by two things:
-LE always was and always will be better in the US
-there are a hell of alot more mafiosi in Sicily(and Italy in general) than the US so just by pure numbers the body counts are going to be higher.

When you reach a certain level(multiple homicides, chopping bodies, torture etc.) the numbers don't really matter. Do you think a guy who did 50 murders is twice as tough as someone who did "only" 25?

I agree with Tyler Durden.

Depends on your definition of tough. If you're looking at purely wanton disregard for human life and devoid of all human decency, I guess Sicilians may take it. So could random street toughs in Detroit and Chicago.
But personally, I think there are plenty of cowards who can pull a trigger.
Don't get me wrong, I know we are talking about mafiosi so moral bankruptcy is essentially a given, but when we are talking about tough, I vote for Danny The Irishman Greene

Simply because most people on here don't know any, and the ones they do know are the ones whose names have been repeated endlessly, ie Provenzano, Riina.

I was reading about Carlos Marcello today. He and his brother walked 3 days through the jungle with no water when deported to Guatemala, then he threatened to kill the president on tape. He also beat a guy to death and buried him in the backyard of one of his houses. Punched an FBI agent for sleeping with his brother's wife as well. Not the toughest motherfucker out there, but not bad for a mafioso elder statesman.

I think Galante might actually deserve the overall title.

The toughest motherf***er is likely to be some guy nobody has ever heard of. It's usually the guys with a little bit of everything that make it to the top; the toughest guy is probably someone who was exceptionally tough but lacking in other key areas which would have prevented his rise to the top, so to speak!

definatly badr hari. not a traditional gangster, he's a k-1 kickboxer with extensive connections in the dutch underworld to some of the bigtime players. cocaine trafficking, extortions, and multiple assaults are just a few of the things he's been involved with. video is best watched on mute lol

T.g.?? Are you referring to graziano? If you're not sorry for the lack of knowledge.. And just wondering.. When you say "tough" are we talking guys who have good hands and won't hesitate to actually fight someone? Or are we talking just crazy fucks who will murder you? I know there's tons of muderers in the life.. I've always been more interested in who the guys were who were street fight tough.

dsbaloo, i mean 'gangsters' who are tough. if i was to just say 'tough' guys in general...id be typing all night. some guys [junior gotti for example] are big, toned, juiced up, and there only tough with a crew or a name behind them.or stripes on there sleeves. or [worse] with 'whiskey muscles'. a real tough guy stands his ground, whether hes going to get his ass beat or not. ive never been able to say ive accomplished much in my life but ive stood my ground when i 'needed to'.
