So, according to this, Quiet Dom and The Genovese took care of Nicholas. It's definitely plausible. But yeah I agree, it's a tad bit too much to whack your own kid.

I also wonder if Vinny was beginning to suspect there was something off with Massino. Asking all these questions has to raise a few red flags in a guy's head. Even if it's your boss who's doing the questioning.

It would not be the first time a son was clipped with the Ok from a Dad. I cannot recall who, but I want to say it has happened before in the Lucchese and Gambino families. Anybody recall who?

I also wondered why Vinny's radar was not buzzing with Massino asking questions. I have to think the idea of Big Joey cooperating was so far out of Vinny's mind, he got blindsided.

At MDC, they generally put wiseguys on certain floors and try to segregate, but they communicate, within families and from different ones all the time. In the 70's, they used to joke that the MDC was junior college because they learned so much when locked up.

I recall Bobby Germaine giving the okay to kill his own son back in the early '80s. His kid was the one who gave the information leading to Henry Hill's arrest. But Germaine was just an associate, and a real low life. I can't really recall anyone in Cirillo's position agreeing to such a despicable act.

Seems to me Quiet Dom gave the OK and the Bonannos carried out the murder. What happened to Nick Cirillo is something that has been debated before over on the Real Deal forum. Many thought there was no way that Quiet Dom would give the OK for his son to be killed. But I always found it believable. Nick had been trouble for years and he really screwed up when he raised hands to made guys in the Bonanno family. Quiet Dom, like the rest of the Genovese leadership, is old school. And putting the life before family or anything else is something these guys swear to when they go through the initiation ceremony.

What I find ironic is how many posters on these forums lament how the old ways aren't followed anymore. Yet when one of them does follow the rules to the letter, even at the expense of his son, they are mad at him.

Within a moral context, we know what these guys are - murderers, thieves, career criminals, etc. That's not exactly news. So I already have a low opinion of them in that respect. But within a mob context, Quiet Dom didn't do anything wrong. In fact, he did exactly what he was supposed to do. So this doesn't lower my opinion of him one bit.

If you want to say "F#$% Quiet Dom" for being a mobster, that's fine. But singling out the fact that he OK'd his son to be killed makes absolutely no sense.

Well of course it's a moral issue. My point is, there are people on these forums that don't seem to have any moral qualms about how these guys live their lives....until now. Suddenly, they're highly outraged.

thats a great way to put it. we are all here for a reason. because we think these guys are interesting. because we want to be like them. because we enjoy law. because we enjoy history. and so on and so fourth. but the bottom line is we talk about all these guys and their crime families and there this and there that but they are all murders, extortionsit, drug dealers, loan sharks, and what not. we have no problem being interested in these people for whatever reason but down to brass tax these are horriable horriable criminals. don't be suprized or shocked or offended when shit like this goes down. its always been that the mafia becomes before your family. anyone who watched the sopranos should know that. quiet dom just put the mafia before his family because his family was screwing up bottom line.

A father murdering his son, as previously mentioned, this is a horrible incident. As stated, everyone who is a member here finds something about organized crime appealing/interesting!
When one takes the oath, becomes a made man and gets his button, he swears an allegiance to his Cosa Nostra Family above all else, NO EXCUSES!! Just awhile back there was a trial in Chicago regarding the Outfit and one of the City's crews. Well in this case, it's a far cry from murdering one's own son now, but a son flipped on his capo father wearing a wire and providing testimony along with the younger brother of the capo, the son's uncle. What people tend to forget is that most of these mafioso MAKE THE CHOICE TO BECOME MAFIOSOS;they know and understand what the requirements are and their responsibilities! Just like the average square businessman that decides to take a loan out from a loanshark instead of going to a bank, he knows full well what can happen if the loan is not repaid on time, so don't cry assault when you miss a payment and someone pays you a visit to remind you of your obligations. And God forbind ANYONE who disrupts their cash flow!!
