hi gang

Does anyone know the exact list of footage that appears ONLY in the Godfather Saga: A Novel for Television.

So far I've noticed Vito whistling at Sonny for not listening to his talk with Bonasera

Bonasera panicking about Vito's visit

Michael and Vito leaving out the back door after the 'move to nevada' meeting with Clemenza and Tessio

Is there any more additions? Even slight ones?

Sonny - Well then, business will have to suffer, all right? And listen, do me a favor, Tom. No more advice on how to patch things up, just help me win, please

There's also a scene in which Michael is sitting at the shore of his Lake Tahoe compound and Connie is serving him dinner. And if I remember correctly you also see him walking with his dog. This happens shortly before Anthony's communion or shortly thereafter.

Yeah, I saw mike and Connie at breakfast in one of the pre credit sequences. Where is the dog walking bit?

No, Danito. "The Godfather Saga" has never been for sale commercially, much to our chagrin. Although sometimes you'll see a bootleg copy on eBay. It originally aired on NBC in the late '70s and early '80s, and today I think Bravo or one of those free cable channels has the rights to it. You just have to be patient and be on the lookout for its airing. Geoff is usually kind enough to post it in the "what's on tv" section.

There's the Genco in the hospital scene; the we'll call him Hyman Roth scene; the flute player scene.

There are about 45 minutes of outtakes included in the "Saga" version, all in chronological order (as are the films). An "extras" disc included with the DVD set shows them as stand-alones, by era.

Yeah, these are scenes strictly in the SAGA tv special I'm talking about. Not the epic or trilogy sets, the only SAGA scenes on the DVD set is the 'does woltz have balls' scene with Connie and Carlo arguing, plus Kay lighting candles.

Not every deleted scene shown in the saga is on the extra disc though.

Ok, I've noticed another little addition EXCLUSIVE to the EPIC - after mike gives his blessing to Gardner Shaw and Francesca, he asks Santino Jr how his football is going, that moment isn't in any other version

That's right. When you see the deleted scene in the "extras" disc, the five seconds showing Michael with Santino Jr. (big, hulking fellow in a plaid sports coat) is not shown.

I have most of the additional/deleted scenes on DVD, but not these ones. I know the Bonasera panicking scene (as far as I remember from youtube), but not the others.

Here in Germany I can't watch American tv. Gotta find a way to see the scenes!

Oh, and I've just watched again the "Francesca is going to marry Gardner" scene. I don't know, there's hardly any scene in GF2 where I hate Michael more. Wealth, money, that's what family means to him in the end.

I've noted that some of the "chronological" edits are just that: DeNiro's Vito is gone before Brando and Pacino are first seen. I believe that the original NBC ad hoc miniseries was set up in this manner.

(The first night of the four-night event was all of the flashback scenes from Part 2 plus just a few scenes of the 1972 film to close out. One critic marveled that the network had the nerve to show what was essentially a foreign-language film in a prime time slot.)

But in more recent re-edits, Vito's revenge on Don Ciccio (during his trip back to Sicily) is an exception: it still appears in a flashback, after the 1940s tale has begun to play out.

I find in interesting that Coppola's original sequencing was re-thought years after the fact. It's more evidence that there's no undisputed official version.
