It's actually a pretty funny book. Breslin rubs some people the wrong way. He's definitely obnoxious in his real life columns and non-fiction books, but his novels are usually quick, funny reads.

He used to drink champagne wherever he went, it is mentioned in the book the "The Brotherhoods." He was killed by Sal Miciotta, Sal thought he was ordered to kill Larry because he was messing around with another wiseguys girl, but it was over the mafia gasoline tax scheme. Larry Champagne was said to making big money from it, and other mobsters wanted that money.

According to Michael Franzese's book Quitting the Mob, Champagne Larry was ordered killed by Sonny Franzese because Champange Larry fooled around with Sonny's Daughter and got her hooked on coke (and Larry was married at the time). Will be interesting to see how the TV portrays it.

As soon as this started I lost interest. I was excited until I saw that fat turd Bobby Baccala.
It was nothing more than one of the shows he used to do called "mob scene" where they take everything we already know and compile it into an hour of Bobby Baccala acting like a tough ass wise guy with shitty actors and remakes.
FatGirl:Your cute Me:Ok FatGirl:So you wanna buy me a drink? Me:No FatGirl:Why not? Me:Well Its tricky pumpkin,If I buy u a drink, every fat girl in here would think I liked fat girls & ask me to buy them a drink also. That was a really good show. I was shocked to see Sonny's wife Tina Franzese there, but she definitely shed some light on the Carrozza situation I must say. The evidence tells me Michael Franzese is lying through his fucking teeth here. There is NO WAY he was trying to save Larry. Why the fuck is this scumbag not put away for life. This guy talks about being reformed, yet he pays Colombo family legal bills and admits to staying in touch with the family's current leaders. He's in court embracing them. What is he, their pastor now? He's so in love with this life, it's not even funny.

I was working and missed it, was it any good? Was the rat Sal Miciotta the one they interviewed? Miciotta got Casso kicked out of Witness Protection Program after ratting on him in prison, Casso was getting guards and a Puerto Rican secretary working in the place to smuggle in all kinds of stuff like food, booze, and heroin. Miciotta was also part of a hit team that mistakenly killed an ex nun, he was sent to kill one of the Peraino brothers and his son, by the other Peraino brother, they were fighting over profits from their porno racket.

Nah, Father Gigante still has that job, even though he recently retired from the Priesthood. But I don't want to go off topic and get started on that friggin guy.
You're spot-on about Franzese, though. The guy clearly has some kind of mental problem that keeps drawing him back to the fringes (at the very least) of the mob. Being that he never really gave testimony about anyone important and had no hand in putting anyone in jail, today his plea seems like it might have been a tactical maneuver.
Today admitting you're a member of OC is boilerplate if you want even the smallest plea deal. Bosses do it now, get shorter sentences, and come out with their stripes so they can steal some more. So yes, Franzese is at least welcome in their company.
And he's a fucking hypocrite.

I heard Mike speak in person once and believe he is reformed. He has strong emotions for his dad, like any son, and I think that's why he showed up during the trial.

Watching that Sonny REALLY destroyed his families life. His sons a junkie his daughter is dead and his wife had to spend most of the marriage without him.Even John Gotti didnt screw his family up that bad.I think sonny just loved LCN more than anything i dont even think it was about the money he probably just liked commiting crime and enjoyed his reputation.Even at his age now instead of enjoying his last few years with his wife he prefered to go out and contiue doing crime and get sent back to prison.

I finally got to watch this today, and I thought it was pretty good. There is no way Michael Franzese didnt know Larry champagne was going to be killed, he probably played a major part in it. I thought the show tried to make it out like Michael Franzese was the one behind the killing, but it also tried to portray him as hiding money from others in the family, but the ones who gave Sal Micciota the orders to kill Larry were leaders of the family, including Joe T Tomasello. Mike Franzese mom also claimed no one in the family knew about the gas scheme or got any money out of it, including dad Sonny, which I also find hard to believe. I didn't know the Franzese daughter who Larry was messing around with, and her eventually overdosing.
