It was authenticated and sold for $500. Though the guy who authenticated it twice misstated Gambino's year of death and said that to become made one had to be Sicilian.

A few years ago, after a particularly good trip to Atlantic City, I bought a check signed by Carlo Gambino. It was drawn on the account for S.G.S. Associates (Gambino's management company) and dated May 28, 1963. It's one of my favorite "collectibles".

yeah i think they guy said that gambino died in 74, what they probably meant was that he was 74 when he died in 1976

Somebody, evidently, got a hold of the SGS cancelled checks as has been selling them.... you can see some of them on EBay*. They're all from that general time period.

* Go to EBay and do a search for "Carlo Gambino".

Interesting...most of the ones i see are written for $400 and i think the one on pawn stars was for the same amount. The really cool one i saw on ebay is the one signed by carlo and endorsed by giuseppe gambino.
