Or is it 'Karl'?

In any case...if ever a guy's campain did an overnight 'crash & burn, this is the one.

Starting out very promising on the issues and with a far better chance of beating Cuomo than Rick Lazio could ever hope to have...Mr. Paladino seems to screw himself tighter into the ground each time he opens his mouth.

Now, the Rabbi who supported him is taking back the endorsement because of Paladino issuing an apology and in effect pandering to the gay community. The Rabbi is right, the candidate is playing both sides.

But that's just one aspect of it. Even if he is intellectually fit for public office...the man has proven he is crass, vulgar and therefore virtually unelectable.

Glad I'm not a New Yorker and don't have to worry about this vote. But it's clear we are all going to be saying 'Governor Cuomo' again come January 2011.

Christie seems like a genuinely decent guy. If he makes you happy and keeps you in Jersey, I'm all for him, too.

I don't know - waiting for 2 hours in the Newark train station last night because only one track was available got him a whole lot of jeers among the crowd.

He seems to be a decent judge of character - for instance he has campaigned for numerous GOP candidates both nationally and locally but he hasn't endorsed Palladino or O'Donnell in Delaware. Maybe if she cast a spell on him?

Don Marco! Long time gone. Welcome back! smile

When I lived in Summit NJ, our dear neighbor, Jon Corzine, ran for US Senate having never voted in a primary (too busy making money at Goldman Sachs). He bought the primary by bribing county Democratic organizations. Then he moved to Hoboken, and ran for Governor. Seems he was generous to a woman in his building who needed a loan to buy or upgrade her condo. Then he forgave the loan. By seeming coincidence, she was the head of the civil servants' union, the state's largest. My only regret is that we moved from NJ too soon for me to vote against him for a third time.

Here in AZ, John McCain faced a serious primary challenge from a right winger. He actually called in Sarah Palin to campaign for him, and he took the primary. That was about two months after his people had denounced Palin to the media as the cause of McCain's defeat by Obama.

There was a televised debate of all the candidates for NYS governor on tv tonight. Paladino didn't make a total ass of himself, and I guess that's a victory of sorts, but he did seem to stutter a lot. All the candidates were asked point blank if they supported gay marriage and he feigned not hearing the moderator (it was apparent he didn't want to answer the question). (All the others did support gay marriage).

One of the candidates, a former madam of a prostitute service, had a great line.... she was talking about businesses leaving New York, and said, "business leaving New York faster than Paladino leaving a gay bar".

I think that will probably turn out to be the most quoted line of this whole down-and-dirty, mudslinging campaign. And you know something? Maybe she's what New York needs!

On the other hand, I might just cast my vote for that guy from the "My Rent's Too Damn High" Party! tongue

SV,

I was surprised by how much I agreed with some of the lesser party candidates.

The madam scored another laugh by comparing how her former escort service provided reliable service, unlike the MTA (one of the local transportation authorities).

Funny you guys mention that "madam." I didn't see the debates but MSNBC played a snippet. I wish I could remember it exactly. She basically said, I guess in regards to her experience, that politicians were whores so in that regard she has experience. You guys know which line I am referring to? lol Anyway, she made me laugh.

While we are talking nutjobs, I am hearing that Christine O'Donnell, in a debate with Coons asked her opponent, "where in the constitution does it say "separation of church & state?" eek Do we laugh or cry?

And there's the problem: I truly have no doubt that every once in awhile a third (or fourth) party candidate will come along who would probably be better than the Republicans or Democrats who are running. Certainly no worse. But do they really have a chance in hell of being elected? 99.999% no.

And so it goes...

Now, how does she figure that? We good citizens of NYC get screwed regularly by the MTA!

Jimmy McMillan of the Rent Is Too Damn High Party wore black gloves, which he later pinned on Agent Orange, and sported a throwback mustache and beard. "It all boils down to one thing, rent, it's too damn high," he insisted.

At one point, Cuomo quipped: "I'm with Jimmy, the rent is too damn high." McMillan then placed his gloved hands on an uneasy Cuomo's shoulders....

The media should focus more on thrid and fourth party candidates, and not just the nut cases. Some of these people actually have good ideas, and are not programmed to do all the double talk we hear from major party candidates who are told what to say by their handlers.

Yeah, what he said!

Christie is now re-thinking his veto of the work order. It is thought he is now considering the many hundreds, if not thousands of jobs that will be lost if the construction project does not go through.
