I just get a call from a friend from Rotary. He says I know that you will get a kick out of this.

One of his workers came into his office two weeks ago and said he had a small problem. His wife was just got let go from her job because her company just loss a major contract and several people were let go.

He asked if he could be given a fairly large increase in his salary to make up for his wife losing her job. Not a loan or an advance but an increase. He told him that he couldn't do that as all employees were given the same wages, by contract he added. ( Factory Worker) How about a move up the ladder at a higher grade then. No, I don't think we can do that either at this time he was told.

The employee then said, well if not, could he also be laid off here, so he could spend some time home with his wife. So my buddy says, What about making money, you just asked me about needing more money since she lost her job.

He says he understands that he wouldn't be making as much, but what the hell, without her full check they would be getting behind in their bills anyway. They would just let them go, run up the credit cards and then file for bankruptcy, like his brother did a few years back. Now he is shocked and and he tells him that he should go home and think about all of this and they would talk again.

Well, First thing Monday morning they find him in a puddle of water on the Men's locker bathroom floor. Yelling about his back. You guessed it. The office got a call from his wife that he wouldn't be in and she didn't know when he would be back.

Unfortunately the USA has created an economy and system that rewards the unemployed, the "sick", and the feeble(?). That you, Mr. and Mrs. Lawyer and Congressperson have milked dry. Here's a rhetorical question, "what do attorneys add to the Gross National Product?" <<Head Scratching sound.>>

Thanks to our F'd up economy, I'm actually considering handing my house over to the bank. Its worth less than my mortgage. So what if my credit rating sucks. If I rent, I don't need credit. And who is giving me "credit"?, those same F'd up banks who created this mess in the first place.

Hey O'bama, forget the health care fiasco, make those banks and Wall St. accountable for something....oops, nevermind, I forgot that Goldman Sachs are your buddies.

The mess is systemic, MC. It goes beyond the banks, which are only acting in the way the system demands.

Yes. It'd be wrong to imply or suggest that this economic crisis was not inevitable.
