After doing 20 years in prison, old school gangsters Joey Pungitore, Tore Scafidi, Charles Ianecece, and Faffy Ianarella are either on parole or about to make parole. Will any of these guys replace Ligambi as the boss of the philly mob (assuming Ligambi is convicted).

I might or might not be related to a former Zip boss

Ligambi hasn't been convicted - yet. Which is why Italian4Life said "assuming" he will be. As some time in the future.

Even if some of those guys get back into the life, I don't see them taking over. Long John Martorano tried to throw his weight around after he got out and he ended up dead.

If Ligambi alone goes down, other current top guys like Staino or Lancelotti would probably be more likely to take over. Or Joey Merlino when he gets out.

If I was them I'd be tempted to retire to Florida or the West Coast

Not very often these guys retire though eh?

Greed and the pull of the life sucks them back in again!

with their experience, they would be back in the game if you ask me. The mob needs guys like them, the younger generation isnt capable of doing it the right way. But like they say, its a new generation.. the 21th century will also produce men like Luciano, Genovese..

I read in a news report he actually might come home a few months earlier if hes released into a halfway house/work program apparently he has told some of his guys on the street that hes probably going to Florida to retire from action when hes released, but things remain to be scene

Tommy Shots: They want me running the family, don't they know I have a young wife?
Sal Vitale: (laughs) Tommy, jump in, the water's fine.

Ligambi has done a good job of running the family, I HIGHLY doubt there will be any drama when any of these guys are released

If uncle joe gets taken off the streets by the feds, Lancelotti would be an excellent leader, he is a younger version of Uncle Joe. Anthony Staino would be an excellent leader also, but every year u hear about indictments coming down and nothing happens. Uncle Joe is still in south philly running things and down in margate in the summer. I think the feds should leave him alone.

hes surely a boss who should get a place next to the likes of Accardo, Gambino, Lucchese, Corallo etc. Very low key.

They remain members until they die or unless they flip but that doesn't necessarily mean they have to remain active.

A couple weeks ago I noticed Joey Merlino's old hangout on Snyder was open again after being shut for years, looks like it still might be run by connected guys, its called caffe cigarro or something like that.

Also last night they were discussing the Raymond Martorano hit on the local news , a segment called "Mob Talk." George Anatasia said the word coming from the FEDS is the guy responsible for the Martorano hit also did the John "Jonny Gongs" Casasanto hit. At first the FEDS believed Johnny Gongs was the one who killed Martorano. He didn't name who the suspect was, but he said the FEDS are going to go after him and try and make him flip to take down the current leadership, here is the video.

That was the rumour for the longest time, but I heard now they believe another guy did the killings, he is currently in prison.

The Philly mob has done pretty could in the 15 years getting away with or beating murder raps. There are atleast five murders I can think of that were never solved or they beat.

Does anyone know when the Scarfo capos get out exactly? I can never find that out exactly. I know the merlino guys are all out except Merlino and Borgesi. Borgesi is actually getting released after Merlino and I have heard that the FEDS may throw him right back in the can cause they have an Active case on him with the Deleware County Bookmaker named Moncello...bent Lou. I think they called it Operation Delco Nostra. But on one of George Anastasia's peices he did here IN philly he said that the FEDS would like to get Borgesi on there side but Borgesi has never been that type of guy but suposedly people on the outside haven't heard from him so some are saying he already flipped. But that is highly doubtful.Hes Ligambi's nephew or something so I doubt it but after 11 years in jail and then if he does go right back in...you never know. His family has been waiting for him to get out.

They would have let him flipped in the cases around 2000-2001 when the arrest took place. He wont flip.

He wouldn't have flipped back then cause they all got off pretty easy and they knew they were. they beat the murder rap. Im just saying hes gonna get charged again and do another bid for the Delco Nostra case. The feds have done this in the past. they dont charge the guy till he walks out the jail and then when he has to go right back in before ever getting home...it makes a guy think. I dont think he will either. doesn't seem like that type of guy plus hes ligambi's nephew but it will be interting to see. Hes the last one scheduled to be released.

I heard the guy suspected of doing the hits is a guy named Damion, I forget his last name, you can find it with a google search, he is currently in prison for a drug charge. I don't know if he is a made member or an associate. The federal prisoner locator site is the website you're looking for to see when guys are getting released, it also tells you what federal prison they are in. Make sure you have the correct spelling of their name though.

Stevie "gongs" was indicted in the borgata illegal gambling ring a few years back, Anthony Nicodemo ran that operation, Stevie "gongs" was taking orders from Nicodemo. Stevie may or may not be a soldier i dont know really know i have not been in his company, but i know for a fact Nicodemo is a very powerful soldier. So for that time Stevie "gongs" was under Anthony Nicodemo.

That's the man, I think he gets out some time in 2011. Wouldn't make sense for a high ranking member to get an underling to do the actual diry work of a hit?

Stevie was not indicted. Charges were dropped against him. You can look up but I am copying some info here.

"Last night, [the New Jersey State Police] completed an additional investigation which has satisfied me that the State will no longer be able to sustain its burden of proving the charges against Steven Cassassanto beyond a reasonable doubt.

"Therefore, I will move to dismiss all charges against Cassassanto. In light of the pending dismissal, the State has no objection to Mr. Peruto and his client being excused from Court on October 16."

Thirty-two minutes later, DiJoseph received a response from Atlantic County Superior Court official Armando Gonzalez, who acknowledged that charges would be dropped: "Provided you have the Dismissal Order submitted to us on or before 10-16-08. Thanks."

According to the civil lawsuit, Peruto had sent "letter after letter" to a New Jersey judge, prosecutor and detective telling them "they got the wrong guy" -- Casasanto.

Peruto said that he even suggested that investigators use a voice-recognition program to compare tape recordings in the probe with Casasanto's taped interview when he applied for a casino dealer's license three years ago.

After no response to his letters, Peruto filed the civil lawsuit.

The lawsuit accused the state Attorney General's Office, Detective David Feldstein, of the New Jersey State Police, and DiJoseph of defamation, negligence and intentional infliction of emotional distress and other counts, on behalf of Casasanto.

"I'm not dropping the lawsuit," Peruto said.

The charges may have been dropped against Casasanto, but he was intially charged in that case and he was involved in the gambling ring, the state police did not have enough proof to keep the charges stick. my mistake using the word indicted.
