So do you have any? and how much did you pay for it (if you paid for...and if I may ask)

I've got a bunch of old newspapers and magazines with movie reviews and articles of some classics (from the time they came out)...my friend the journalist dig some for me, and I did my own saving from the 90's...weird I know, but call it Collector's Items if you want.

Also, I've got a bunch of toys- original Transformers (Prime and Megatron as well) that today I could sell them for quite a lot....but I'm not gonna tongue

Oh and 2 full boxes of Baseball cards, but who doesn't have one?

Is the Godfather Saga on DVD in great quality and commercial-free a Collector's Item? if so then add that to the basket as well.

That's all I remember for now.

What you got?

Anything you REALLY want to have but can't afford? (besides the Godfather Family Album, that I'm sure we all want...)

wink

I have a lot of Man Utd football programmes from the FA Cup finals we appeared in, in the 70's and 80's, not sure how much they are worth though..

With regards to Beatles stuff, its all modern and isn't worth a great deal..

I have some Beanie Babies. I understand they are worthless. I went insane to get my daughter "I Choose You Pikachu!" for Christmas one year. It was never even taken out of the box. Perhaps one day it will be worth something.

(Real) Godfather posters... was an ebay fanatic for a while, so bought a bunch (from all over the world), and spent more than I probably should've... but they hopefully are still worth something wink

And my Scarface "uzi" prop is hopefully real wink

The real ones are from the 70s when the films were released... how you know for sure is partly research and mostly luck. wink

I am not much of a collector. I'm always a day late and a dollar short. tongue I have a few buffalo head nickles that I saved thinking they may be worth something. I save articles of major news stories and/or events (i.e. front page showing when we reached the year 2,000, 911, last presidential election headline, Elvis' death, John Lennon's death)

I suppose, to me, while not in the best of shape, I saved some JFK picture cards (like baseball cards if you remember those). Back in 60's they had inserted pictures of the first family in bazooka bubblegum and I collected them. I also have the headline page of JFK's assassination, which is really not in real good shape but I can't throw it away. ohwell

I told my daughter where all this is in case it's worth anything someday, they can profit from it. BUT even if not, maybe my grandkids or their kids or their kids kids can someday bring them to school for a show/tell type thing. ohwell

I had quite a few Grand Cru Bordeaux and Burgundy wines from the Fifties and Sixties that I'd been saving--just couldn't bring myself to drink them. The replacement value of those wines was in the thousands of dollars each, but there was no way I could sell them. I started drinking them before we moved from NJ to AZ three years ago. Nearly all were over the hill. cry I managed to ship a full case of Chateau Lafite Rothchild 1970, and it arrived here intact. But most of them were over the hill. cry

On the other hand, during the moving process I found that we did have some "collectables." I had a set of seven books, "The History of Engineering and Science in the Bell System," that had been published privately by Bell Laboratories in the Seventies. Except for rare first editions, used books are practically worthless. But I put them on Craigslist and, within ten minutes, a guy called me, practically panting for them. He was at my home a half-hour later, and gave me $110 for them.

I had an old top-of-the-line road bike--a Raleigh Professional--with a lugged Reynolds 531 double butted frame. That technology had long been superseded by aluminum and carbon fiber frame tubing. But, I found there was a market for lugged frames when I put it on Craigslist. A guy gave me $300 for it.

Then I put a slate coffee table on Craigslist. A used furniture dealer came to our home. He not only bought the table, but an old cube table and cork lamp. Then he asked to look at the rest of our stuff. This guy actually wanted to buy our "Danish modern" bedroom set, which we'd bought more than 40 years earlier, and for less than $300 (we'd promised it to a charity). Then he bought my Yamaha acoustic guitar. Reminds me of a line from "Viva Zapata": "Two women and a goose make a market." lol

I have a program from a mid-90's NHL all star game signed by Steve Yzerman, the long standing Captain of the Detroit Redwings but nothing else that really comes to mind!

I used to collect / buy / sell / trade Boy Scout memorabilia. I went a bit overboard in the collecting parts at times (due to the addictive personality).

In 1995, I moved to Wisconsin and planned to live there only 3 years. We figurd renting a house would be the financial best thing for our situation. However, I found a house that I fell in love with and let my emotional love for this beautiful old house trump my sanity. I had no $$ money for a down paymnet and figured I was getting too crazy with the BSA memorabilia stuff. I took a quick trip to KC to a dealer and came back with $25,000 for part of my collection. And, I sold the stuff to him at probably 30-40 cents on the dollar. This guys personal collection was valued in excess of $1 million and he was extreamly wealthy. I would rather sell at a discount in one fell swoop than piecemeal for better prices but take a year worth fo time and energy to do so.

I still have some good stuff and have sold individual pieces for over $1,000. On the other hand - I have paid probably more than I should on several things that I really really really wanted LOL.

Still got a bunch of stuff and dont have the sentimental connection or desire for most of it. Will probably hang on for a couple years until the market go back up on those type of pieces and then sell.

Oh yeah -- I do have some baseball memorabilia and used to collect presidential campaign buttons (still have them - just sitting in the basement)

Baseball -- collect anything with Lou Brock on it -- my childhood (and present) baseball hero. Some of the fun things include a "Brockabrella" and a can (still full) of Vess Soda called "Brock-a-pop"

Campaign Buttons -- have about 100 or so from 1900 - present

Oh yeah -- also collect old cigar bands. Idont have a ton of them but the art work is amazing. I also have probably 5,000+ cigar bands from cigars that i have smoked and / or chewed. I try to stick to smoking one per week now but now I chew them quite regualarly. I have made colleges of the cigar bands and actually have them hanging in my game roon. I have 4 frames about 24" X 36" full of the cigar bands -- pretty cool looking.

I have a few comic books (Geek Alert!). Don't know if any are worth anything big but I boast a mint condition Wolverine #1 from the summer of 1983! Go ahead, boys - Now the envy can begin! grin
