It has become obvious that the participants in this Board have drained the GF of any potential for original and interesting discussion. All questions have been asked, all answers given, all observations made.Do we really want to entertain another query of "who was the best don"? Its time to move on.
I recommend that we expand the forum to include other films. My suggestion would be the "Tony Rome" series starring Frank S.and the "Matt Helm" movies starring that lovable lush Dean Martin.

I welcome your comments.

A rather presumptuous statement there, don't you think?

For someone who has been a member for more than two years and only posted 55 times, perhaps it is you who lacks the potential for original and interesting discussion.

Yes, it is perhaps true that many topics have been beaten to death, but it is not unusual to for new members to bring new questions or fresh insights into old questions to the table.

If you want to talk about Matt Helm or Tony Rome, why don't you start threads about them? If interest is so overwhelming, I'm sure JG won't mind giving each its own forum, as he did with "Scarface" and "The Sopranos."

You could also join IMDb which, I'm sure, already has forums devoted to these particular movies.

Hendree? Or is it Henry? wink When did our Don turn the reigns over to you? Did I miss something here in the last few days? confused Has Geoff sold the boards? eek

This is called The Godfather Trilogy Thread. Of course, if you would like to talk about other movies besides the Godfather you are more than welcomed to do so by going over to the General Discussion Thread that our Don Malta has provided for us.

If it pertains to another Mob Movie, we have the Other Mob Films, Book, TV thread. And if it is about Scarface, our Don has provided us with one of those threads too.

But this one is strictly for Godfather Movie talk only.

You also need to realize that when a new person joins the boards, they have legitimate questions about the Godfather movies, and they have absolutely no way of knowing if a question has been asked in the past, because they are new to the boards.

So do yourself a favor and let the people who have been here for a while worry about answering the same old questions over and over again. Believe me, we don't mind at all, as we enjoy enlightening someone new who may shae a passion for what we all enjoy.

I suggest that you go over to the General Discussion Thread if you want to start a discussion about a Movie like Tony Rome.

Have Fun And Enjoy. smile

Frankly, I find that a very rude thing to say, coming from someone with 55 posts in two years, no?

Henry, I tend to agree with you partly. I too find some of the recent topics repetitive. But I do not agree with your solution. I have no interest in the movies that you mentioned. Why not suggest some other solution to make this trilogy section more interesting, without diluting the Godfather theme ?

A generous, thoughtful and courteous reply, Don Cardi. smile A fine antidote to the rudeness shown by the originator of this thread.

During my time here, I've noticed that this henry fellow tends to show up sporatically, trying to stir things up a bit. It seems to me that he succeeds every time.

His posts are always dripping with sarcasm, so if I were you guys, I'd stop taking him so seriously.

Just a thought. smile

He TRIES; he doesn't succeed. Your advice, though, xDC, is sound.

I believe his postrate has nothing to do with this. I was only a reader myself for some weeks before I actually joined this boards, so he is maybe more of a reader too.

It is the content of his post that makes him not worthy to be taken serious.

Was he the sixth Don of New York in The Godfather? Don Shula was the boss from Miami, and Don Meridith the boss from Dallas, right? Were they also at the commission meeting that Don Vito called? lol

Rudeness aside, I somewhat agree. Especially lately, which is why I've for the most part been staying away from the Board.

However, despite the recent influx of every potential answer to every potential observation on every potential topic...miraculously there can still be bright, shining moments of 'original and interesting' discussion!! I guess it has more to do with the subtleties and greatness of the GF stories than anything else.

In other words, through it all the Gangster BB, especially the 'Godfather Trilogy' forum will live on and entertain for years to come.

By the way...has anyone yet contemplated how often Michael had his nails manicured? As a powerful modern Don having relocated to Nevada in an effort to broaden the horizons of the Corleone Empire, he would certainly need to keep up appearances in such a way. And did he have the manicurist come to the house on these occassions or was there a specific place to which he would be brought under heavy protection.

These are things that MUST be explored.

Carry on....

Maybe that's because he knew he had nothing 'original' to contribute (until today) and unlike others decided not to clutter up the board with the same old same old.

That Chili Don Carne.

He does come up with a good one every now and then.

Since this horse oesn't seem to be dead yet, I'm gonna stick .02 more in and go along with xXxDCxXx's explanation.

The clue is the suggestion that we devote separate forums to Tony Rome and Matt Helm. rolleyes

Can I chime in here? Of course there are topics that have been done to death (just who WERE the Tahoe assassins?), but, as my esteemed BBers have pointed out, new members often bring a breath of fresh air to this board. Just look at the numerous topics that Cristina has posted recently. I believe that as long as there's a Godfather Trilogy, there will be new, exciting and fresh ways to look at it.

Here I was getting a crush on Don Cardi because of his generous praise. Now, I must split my affections between Don Cardi and plawrence. Too many crushes! [Linked Image]

I think I just received my early Christmas present [Linked Image]. After all, no one has ever written a verse about me in an original poem. (But of course, with the lines "If we paid by the word here / She would sure be expensive" plawrence could be giving me a polite hint that my posts are too long-winded!) No matter. I love this rhyme!

Thank you for mentioning me, Sicilian Babe and plawrence. This bulletin board sure knows how to make new members feel welcome. Let me say that the knowledge I may have displayed was picked up from reading the posts of you guys (and gals) and other veteran members wink .

And I agree. Every new member brings an individual spin to things, so there will never be a lack of subjects to talk about on the Godfather Trilogy board. Just look at the daily "Active Topics." Someone is always posting something every day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. When we go months without a single post and this board starts to look like a "ghost town", then we'll know that the limit has been reached and all possibilites drained (which will never happen, of course.)
