I hope we didn't already have a thread on this, but the other day the radio was taking phone votes on the best song scream. I didn't tune in long enough to see which song won though. Do you have a favorte? smile

They mentioned: Little Piece of My Heart (Janis Joplin) "We Won't Get Fooled Again" (The Who)Revolution (Beatles)

Off hand, one of the best IMHO is Hey Jude (Paul McCartney)I know there are many many more.

The Who is pretty tough, as anyone who was watching American Idol last season will testify. One contestant tried desperately to hit that note, and it just came out all sorts of wrong.

Yes, Daltry's would be hard to be IMHO smile

Others though, Helter Skelter (Beatles) Kashmi (LZ) or I'm sure there's another that I'm not thinking of, as Robert Plant has one of the best scream voices ever.

I was going to cite one particular Robert Plant scream: the "looooooooooooooooove" near the end of "Whole Lotta Love"

Way down inside
Woman
You need...
(crashing drums/guitars)
Looooooooooooooooooooooove

Other notables:
The sustained wail at the end of "Born in the USA"
A few sustained screams in G'N'R's "Welcome to the Jungle"

I would agree that the Daltry scream in "Won't Get Fooled Again" is unbelievable and nearly impossible to replicate

Goombah! How the heck are you? Haven't heard from you. Everything ok? smile

I had Robert Pland in mind too but couldn't think of the titles of the songs. So many LZ songs have titles not matching they lyrics (know what I mean?). Anyway, he'd be up there too.

I was able to see Bruce Springsteen last night in the floor section of the BankAtlantic Center. Not really what it's cracked up to be, seeing how everyone is packed like sardines, and how everyone who is 6'3 is in front of you.(I'm 5'9 frown ) Anyways, Bruuuuce played "Jungleland", one of my favorites. Boy, did I get goosebumps when he sang those last 3 minutes. Those last few "groans" that end the song are just spellbinding, and one of the greatest endings(at least for me) to end a song. I took a video of it ,so I'll see if I can imbed it into the next post.

Jim Morrison had pretty good screams in "The End" and in "When the Music's Over."

I take back my previous post. It was "Dream On" that Danny Gokey attempted on "Idol" last season, and there are dogs and cats that still haven't recovered their hearing.

It just goes to show you that "just screaming" isn't as easy as it seems.

Sorry boys and girls, I'll go for Joe Cocker in "Little Help From My Friends" at Woodstock.
