I don't know how many of you have read up on the history of the Cleveland Mafia.......but for those of you that have.....
When John Scalish was on his deathbed at University Hospital in May/1976...he whispered to his brother in law and "treasurer" of the Cleveland Mafia,Maishe Rockman that James Licavoli was to take over the Family.
Many in the family thought that Angelo Lonardo was the logical successor.
He was more familiar with mafia protocol, articulate and well respected.
Now James Licavoli was nothing more than a old school hitter who liked being retired and was content to make wine and live frugaliy.
When "Jack White" was told he was the next in line..he even deferred and told Lonardo he should be the boss, but Lonardo said "no you,its what Johnny wanted"
There are some that believed Scalish told Rockman, Lonardo was to be the boss.
But Rockman felt Licavoli would have been easier to influence.
whats your guys take?
