the sears tower reveled the 103rd floor glass balconies. so, now when you go up the tower you can look down and lose your breakfest, lunch, or supper.

I was just reading that. I'm sure it looks very nice, but you wouldn't see me up there. I couldn't look down without getting weasy. panic

You mean the Willis Tower? tongue

I love heights so I'll have to try this out sometime.

That looks awesome! I now have a reason to visit Chicago. That and Wrigley Field. But first the glass balconies.

I don't know, but it'll always be the Sears tower to most people.

The Signature room, or Lounge, has a great view and you can eat/drink. 95 floors up.

Not to mention the billions of other things to do in Chicago.

Chicago is an "awesome" city. smile It had been years since I was there before the BB meet a couple years ago. I avoided any tall building tours though at that time.

There IS a lot to see and do. Heck, I'l love just going shopping and of course eating some of their great Italian food, although don't know that it can compare to NYC. wink

Off topic...when I went to NYC for the first time in 03, I didn't know what to expect, because for years the saying was, "there could be a dead body on the street and NYers would walk right over it." lol I can't speak for previous years, and it is a busy, hustle/bustle city, but I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't find it rude at all. One of the tour buses I took, the driver mentioned how 911 changed NY (understandably) and how it was a wake-up call and NYers are ready, willing to help each other. I didn't talk to strangers too much, but when I did ask for directions and such, everyone, from people in hotels, to people walking down the street were nice to me. One thing I learned tho, if you are walking down Times Square with a mad rush of people, you DON'T stop and fix your shoe or you'll get trampled by the crowd. Move to the side. lol Also, NY is NOT CA, pedestrians can NOT just dash across the street, you'll get your ass run over.

Sorry, back to Chicago!! It's "my kind of town." tongue

The Signature Room is actually atop the John Hancock Building and not the Sears Tower. None-the-less, the view from the skydeck at Sears or the Signature Room in the Hancock are both exceptional. I saw the picture in today's Tribune of the glass "bumpouts" on the Sears skydeck, and when I realized what they were and where they were, it made my ass twitch. And I was sitting at my kitchen table... Not sure I could actually force myself to stand in that glass cube!

My one and only visit to the Signature Room was about ten years ago when I took a date to lunch. I had a reservation, but it was crowded. I gave the maitre de a $20 and "requested" a window seat. He obliged and promptly put us at the one table on the northeast corner...two views for the price of one. It was a business acquaintence and she once told me "there's so much to see in the city and I don't know where to start." I made a damn good first impression that day.

...who will always refer to it as the Sears Tower
and not the "Watchyou talkin' 'bout Willis" Tower...

Yeah I was just mentioning another view from the sky in Chicago. There was a line the other night when they were doing fireworks at the Taste for the Signature room. I went to Cheesecake Factory in the Hancock building...
