Hi guys,
A friend and I were discussing the Godfather movie last night and he had heard somewhere that there was another candidate to play Don Corleone besides Marlon Brando. Is this true? We're very confused.
Thanks,
Cristy

There was many.
Brando, if im correct it was for Godfather, had to audition simply because he left the movie industry for a while with his comments saying "I never enjoyed acting", so auditioning was a embarrasing moment for him.

Yes there were all kinds of candidates. Ernest Borgnine was one, and the worst one I know of was Danny Thomas, who wanted the role so badly he considered buying the rights just so he could produce it and play the lead. Thank God that didnt happen.

"Io sono stanco, sono imbigliato, and I wan't everyone here to know, there ain't gonna be no trouble from me..Don Corleone..Cicc' a port!"

"I stood in the courtroom like a fool."

"I am Constanza: Lord of the idiots."

Heh, Danny Thomas as Don Corleone. Just don't think that would work.
