My wife and I usually try to make a menu that's associated with the Super Bowl teams on Super Sunday. Hot wings for Buffalo; cheesesteaks and soft pretzels for Philadelphia; clam chowder for New England, etc.

We're watching the game with friends and will bring pierogis, which are popular in the Steel City. Other choices are kielbasa, slow cooked with brown sugar, Karo, Heinz ketchup and bbq sauce, haluski and the signature treat, the Primanti Brothers sandwich, which is piled high with meat and topped with crispy cole slaw and a generous handful of french fries.

Iron City Beer is a must. The beer distributors throughout PA have been having a hard time keeping it in stock.

Does anyone have any suggestions for Arizona party fare?

Crow. They'll be eating crow in AZ.

Turnbull should have a few ideas on what's big out there.

BTW - That Pittsburgh menu sounds AWESOME!

uhwhat Please tell me that you are joking about this. The only reason they should ever run out of that swill is if someone actually bought the 12 cans that were produced! My rooting interests aside, Iron City might be the worst beer on the planet. I had it at a Pirates game years ago and could not get over how beer could actually taste that bad sick. Keystone or Old Milwaukee would be considered "premium" beer when pitted against Iron City.

You can try some of these recipes:

Arizona and Pittsburgh Recipes

We're just doing wings, whole roasted chickens and ribs.

I don't drink IC, and it is usually not popular outside of western PA, but the marginal supplies that are usually reserved are being snatched up by fans, who want to keep a theme. I was always partial to a better western PA brew, Rolling Rock, but they moved their operation from Latrobe to Jersey. Iron City comes out with commemorative cans of beer after Steeler Super Bowl wins. I hope to buy some .

I can't connect to the link on the computer I'm using now, but I will make a point to see them, SB. you can never go wrong with ribs and wings. Just don't let the person eating the most handle the remote or it will be a sticky mess. wink

I can't imagine there are any foods unique to Arizona. Maybe some sort of Native American foods. Or cactus or sand, served really hot of course.

Southwestern style foods, maybe green chili and whatnot.

We'll be having 7 layer taco dip and....not sure what else. My wife will be working so most of the food will be made beforehand.

I just thought of something... got some leftovers? It'd be perfect for Kurt Warner.

Well i watched the game at work on night shift with a bunch of English heathens who don't like the game,so basically i watched it on my own.

My Superbowl menu was,
A minestrone cup-a-soup,some crusty bread to dip in it,a bag of pickled onion Monster Munch,a yoghurt,a pear and a cereal bar!

Beat that,you lot?

lol lol

Ended up @ a bar in Ottawa that had a $6.95 all-you-can-eat buffet complete with pizza, chicken wings, chili, zucchini sticks and garlic bread. Coupled with the Pizza eaten on Saturday night it was not a good diet weekend for me smile.

We wound up making franks in the blanket, buffalo wings, BBQ wings, homemade mini mozzarella cheese/pepperoni calzones, homemade onion dip with lime tortilla chips, home made nachos supreme and tri colored pesto pasta salad.

My super bowl menu was basically 7 layer taco dip my wife made. It was disappointing this year, because she had to work.

Truth be told, everything on our menu was homemade. The wings, the pasta salad and even franks in the blanket! I enjoy it better that way! wink

Nothing was store made/bought. No spaghetti-O's for me! sick

Wow! You made your own Franks? What did you use for casings? Did you mix the beef with pork, or were they all beef franks?

The franks were Nathans franks and we rolled them up in fresh dough.

In other words, Miss Hamburger Helper, we didn't purchase a box of pre-rolled pigs in the blanket Hor dourves. wink

I believe my post above indicated that I had never made Hamburger Helper, so I don't believe that I can, in all conscience, accept the above title, as much of an honor as it would be.

Seriously, the Nathans were good? I usually use Karl Ehmer's for mine, but I have to drive to Jersey to get them and it's a pain in the ass.

Where I went, everybody brought dishes, so there was a lot to choose from. There was a crockpot full of sausages and sauerkraut and another with hamburger bbq, which was made with ground beef, and chopped onion and peppers with seasonings. I topped my sausage and sauerkraut with a heaping spoonful of the bbq, and it was an excellent combination.

We bought the chickens and ribs in Costco, and then just warmed them up. They were great. At $36 for two racks of ribs and two whole chickens, you really can't even cook your own for that price! And their chickens are always so good! My MIL contributed a salad and baked ziti and the snacks.

Costco has very good stuff. I think their pizza is good as they use top notch ingredients. Of course, it's hard to pass up that $1.50 quarter pound kosher dog with the 20 oz. refillable soda.

Klyd, I LOVE the $1.50 dog and soda. One of my coworkers and I will find reasons to have appointments near the local Costco so that we can go there for lunch. The chicken bake is hard to beat at $3, too. I also used to buy the chicken caeasar salad and bring it to my daughter at work. And who can say no to the $1 churro!! smile
