Righteous Kill (2008)

http://www.righteouskill-themovie.com/

Starring: Robert De Niro, Al Pacino
Written By: Russell Gewirtz
Directed By: Jon Avnet
Release Date: 12 September 2008

Quote:
When Pacino and De Niro faced off in 1995's Heat, it was a cinematic event even though they had just two scenes together. Now, after 13 years ( eek ) of comparatively uninspired roles, the actors' reunion in Righteous Kill raises the question, What took so long?

"It's easier said than done," says De Niro. "I wish at times we had been more proactive, but we weren't. Life, you know?"

Initially, the script, about two NYC policemen fighting through political red tape to capture a serial vigilante, called for an old cop/young cop dynamic. But De Niro, the first to sign on, had a thought: "What about Al?"

Turns out Pacino liked the script and connected with the troubled detective. "It's not in my guy's DNA [to retire]," he says of the revamped character. "Probably, his ambition is to die on the job. Sort of like an actor."

[EW's] TWO CENTS

Jon Avnet is no Michael Mann, but these characters and the murky subject matter are right up the Oscar winners' alley.

I CANNOT WAIT for this movie!

Now it seems like Pacino's 88 Minutes (also directed by Avnet)was like a primer for this movie, sort of in the same way as Bruce Willis' 16 Blocks was for Live Free or Die Hard.

88 Minutes was really bad, one of Pacino's worst.

I disagree absolutely with that used analogy. 88 MINUTES sucked, 16 BLOCKS was meh, LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD was pretty decent, and RIGHTEOUS KILL looks like a waste of money, if someone is silly enough to spend it at their local theatres.

So you nerds who complained how not enough Pacino/DeNiro in HEAT, well here you go....I'll smile when some of you realize that this all-feature dream team doesn't pay off this time this side of INDY IV.

yeah I don't think the film looks good at all and not to mention these men look worn out. I mean I respect them and all that, but damn do they look old and too rugged. hopefuly it's just makeup or look of characters, but I doubt it.

Or maybe its the look of "Fuck the script, just give me the goddamn money."
