To all the great dads we have on the bb.

May you have a stress free day to relax in your favorite chair, with your beverage of choice in your hand, belching, farting and watching sports.

Come to think of it, I wish that for myself.

Happy Fathers Day to my dad, and all the other dads here!

Thank you for all your help through the years...
Thank you for just being there...
Thank you for providing such a loving home...
Thank you for giving me (most) of what I've asked for...

Sorry if I've been selfish sometimes...
Sorry if I've offended you...
Sorry if I know now and then I wasn't perfect...
But sorry, too, that I didn't (yet) understand...

You've been the strongest stake...
You've been holding it all together...
You've loved us unconditionally...
You've been there forever...

There is no "father" without you...
There is no "love" without you...
If I knew, what I was supposed to do...
I still couldn't follow you...

Okay, enough bad poetry. I love my dad SO much! And it's a little sad that up in age things've changed... but my mom and dad mean everything to me...!

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

I miss my dad on days like this. It's hard, but we have Mr. Babe to celebrate with, and we're hoping to make his day as special as he deserves. He's a wonderful husband, and a terrific dad.

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!!

I can't say today is bittersweet because it is mostly bitter. I'll be thinking of Gabe all day.

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers here on the BB.

I definitely will be calling my dear 88 year old father today. :)I look forward to his stale jokes and the teasing and "scolding" I get for sending him a gift. ha ha ha. "Save your money" he says. Like I'm actually gonna say "ok, no gift this year." He's so wonderful. I truly wish I could be there with him. ohwell

While I miss my own dad today, I am reminded at how blessed I am. I know that one day in the future I'll be reunited with my dad, so that's good enough for now. I am grateful that I have a loving, wonderful wife and two healthy, adorable children.

As I posted in the sports section earlier, I have been anxiously awaiting today all week. Today is like nirvana for me as my kids will be going to their first ever MLB game with my wife & I today. grin There is something indescirbably magical about a dad and his kids going to a baseball game. I cannot think of a better way to spend Father's Day than watching baseball with my kids... cool

I love watching a baseball game and having the camera pan to the stands and seeing a father watching and teaching the game to their children. The father will be pointing and explaining, and the child is sitting their wide eyed with amazement and awe. And to think, 40 years from now or so these kids will be reflecting on this day with their own kids and grandkids and remembering this special moment.

I marvel at all the dads on this board; goombah, klyndon, Mary Cas, Partagas, Turnbull, Don Cardi, et al, and Sicilian Babe when she speaks of Mr. Babe, who tell of stories with love of the accomplishments of their children.

For those who's dads are no longer here today is a day to sit back and reflect on all those kinds of stories you had with your own dads. Unfortunately there are so many children today who don't have those kinds of memories with their own fathers.

Thanks for the well wishes and Happy Father's Day to all the dads.

My daughter gave me a Ryan Howard baseball fersy, which she insisted I wear to church. I'll be going to my younger son's teener baseball game later.

I also got to call my dad and wish him well. He's 74 and in great shape despite cancer surgery in 1997. I'm lucky to still have him. I still regard him as a safety net in my life.

I am very blessed that I still have my daddy. He's 82 now and he's not in the best of health. I flew to Fl and seen him over Spring break and I'm going back in July. I HATE that he lives so far away from me. But I call him every or every other day just to check in. Love ya Daddy.

Thank you, TIS, and the other well-wishers here. smile Right back at you, TIS. It's been a pleasure getting to know you on the boards and through PMs. I'm glad you were able to speak to your dad today and wish him well.

Longneck - I'm thinking about you on what must be a very tough day. I hope that one day, soon, you'll be able to celebrate this day with a son or daughter. Or several of both!

The game was great. Our seats were high up in the right field outfiled, but it was a beautiful day. We were weary of our youngest tumbling down the steps since our seats butted up against one of the aisles. But the kids enjoyed nachos, some drinks, and a soft pretzel while witnessing their first ever 3 run homerun. They both got tired from the sun (and my youngest from missing his nap) that we left about 3/4 of the way through. We parked far away, so I decided that I would run to get the car so the kids and mom could rest.

I'm going to frame the ticket stub and some of the pictures we took. It was a priceless day and it brought a few tears of joy along with it. Throw in the fact that the Indians won was just icing on the cake!

Goombah, your kids are absolutely adorable. I can't believe how much they've grown. eek It seems like baby Michael (if I remember his name correctly) was just born. Judging by the pictures, I'll bet their favorite part was snack time right? Enjoy them. They are little for such a short time.

Thanks for sharing. You have a beautiful family.

What a great day you and your family had. I love your son's Indians hat. Hopefully one day he'll exchange that hat for a Browns helmet.

Wonderful pictures, goombah. That's a great memory, for sure. Your kids are beautiful.

My son went 4 for 4 with a walk in his game today. Since they were winning by a large margin going into the last inning, his coach rewarded him by letting him select the defensive positions for the last inning for the nine boys. After catching the whole game, he put himself in center field where he made a diving catch, extended as far as he can go. It was a great Father's Day present.

Hope all of our BB dads and the dads of our BB'ers had a great day!

Goombah, those are such nice pictures - your adorable kids, the beautiful scenery, the setting of a baseball game...all makes for a memorable day!!

Kly, your boy must've known exactly where he needed to be, huh? Smart player! Sounds like it was a wonderful game and day!

LN, you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Happy day after Father's Day to all the Dads. It's nice to read all the tributes and great thoughts from the terrific Moms here. My little baby hugged me about 20 times yesterday (she's 29). She calls me every morning on her way to work to say good morning and tell me she loves me. She's a joy. I had a great Dad and he died too young at age 64, 25 years ago.

Both Klydon's and Mary Cas's stories were awesome - thanks for sharing! It sounds like Klydon might have an athlete in the family that can allow mom & dad to retire early. wink I'm already trying to get my kids to switch hit when they ball tee ball in our yard to plot them on a similar course. lol

Thanks for the advice, Don Cardi. smile Mine are already growing up too fast. I can remember vividly bringing my oldest home from the hospital when she was born. In two months, she'll be starting kindergarten. panic eek

Part of being a Dad, and Mom for that matter, is sharing the ups and downs, and highs and lows of your kids. Right now my 13 year old has been doing very well in baseball and his team is winning, but my 15 year old is struggling a bit at the plate and his team is trying to reach the .500 mark. I took the older boy (and my daughter) to the fields earlier in the day for some time in the hitting cage.

While my older boy was certainly rooting for his younger brother, I knew it was a little tough on him watching his brother put together some good games. So I tried to downplay the game. There have been and will be times when the situation is reversed. I only remind them not to get too excited when things are going well, or too down when they aren't.

goom,

Great pictures. What a great memory. Who ate most of the nachos and cheese? (Not the marathon runner lol) I was in Cleveland once and walked by the stadium. I couldn't believe it was in the middle of the city.
