guys i was offered to play in a movie. auditions are next week. its independent film.its about the italian and the russian mob. so the roll i am going to audition for is a guy named anthony he is a high ranking thug, energetic, talks fast, usually smiling and telling jokes.

now i have never acted a day in my life and its something i always wanted to try. so if you guys can give me tips please. the reason why the guy chose me for this movie was because we are friends and all those traits that charachter has i have also. but the hardest part is creating a charachter. if you guys can give me ideas that would be nice. can you guys think of any charachters that have those charachtersics so i can kind of try to go from there.

p.s sorry for posting this on the gf forum i know there is a movie section but most of the post are made here.

Maybe think of Sonny. Be energetic. Don't go over the top. Don't make a parody. First of all: Feel the situation.
For the training: Try to be energetic, talk fast, smile etc. in various situations.

First of all, relax. That's not so easy, so practice it. Reharse, rehearse, rehearse your lines until you feel completely comfortable in them, and until, as Danito pointed out, you feel the part. But don't put yourself in the straightjacket of what the director wants or even what you want the character to be like. Experiment a little. No, don't think of Sonny. An audience can always tell when an actor is imitating rather than acting.

This was moved here from the GF Forum...

First off, if it's "you", then just be yourself. You and they will find out if it's really "you" or not after that... wink

character... characteristics...
(Don't type those other "words" on any application, or anywhere, ever again... wink )

Good luck!

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

Basically you will be cast for being you, so don't try too hard. Let it flow. Feel the moment and interact with the other actors. DON'T try to create a character (sorry GF). That will come across as phony and pretentious.

As a veteran (cough, cough) of 20 community theatre productions, we're amateurs, so just relax and enjoy the experience.
