Ever seen a movie you really dug, even a favorite of yours, and a cringe-worthy "bad" scene comes along?

Take a movie I reviewed weeks back, Tony Scott's "The Last Boy Scout."

Really liked it, but I felt a weakness of "Scout" was when its self-awareness get to the better of itself. I really don't like the shot when the villain's henchman, smugly tells Willis, "Yeah I'm the bad guy."

Urgh, what sillyness.

What about you?

I enjoyed the movie "In the Line of Fire," but a couple of scenes make me roll my eyes.

First, some of Clint Eastwood's lines ("you look good enough to eat") make you cringe, and think the guy is a buffoon and not a secret service agent.

Also, the scene where the assassin's call was traced to a pay phone nearby and Eastwood spots him and chases him with several agents. Although the would be assassin of the President of the United States is on foot and in view, they stop the chase without notifying authorites to block off areas or join the search, all because the killer ran alongside a moving bus, and they thought there may be a finger print on a car windshield that he had touched.

I hope this is what you were looking for.

Up to the point in which Michael and Signor Vitelli speak in Sicily, I have never liked the previous Sicily scenes in The Godfather.

I hate the scene in Jaws where the mother of the boy who was eaten slaps Chief Brody. It's overdramatic and unnecessary IMO.

Roberto (or whoever that supposedly funny landlord is) scene in Godfather 2.

It's funny, because the scenes from The Godfather that are mentioned above are some of my favorites!

I can't think of any bad scenes in The Godfather. But to keep with Coppola...

...as I said on FCM, I've always found that smoke-filled dream sequence in The Conversation a bit iffy.

Every scene in GLADIATOR that Russell Crowe wasn't in.

Agreed; the Sicily scenes seemed to take it away from the movie.

Almost any movie where there is lots of automatic gunfire and no one gets hit, PLUS when they have to show the bad guys shooting in slow motion.

One that comes to mind is "True Lies". Lots of gun fire and Arnold and Jamie Lee don't get a ding.

That's a fun movie, MC.

They blew up the old seven mile bridge in the Keys just for that film.

A lot of scenes in GF 3 are bad, but the one that makes me cringe is when Don Altobello (Eli Wallach) writes out the check for a million. All three actors (Eli, Al and Talia) just over-act that scene into a gooey mess.

I love the film. Arnold and Jamie Lee have great chemistry on scene and she can strip, er, I mean dance.

BTW, love your avatar.

there was a sequence in Godard's "Pierrot Le Fou" when the two main carachters are singing and dancing that made me want to shoot the screen. maybe that is not a good movie in the first place really.

At the end of "Face Off" when his daughter says" Sorry i shot you daddy" and it's horrible acting to boot.
