Why does Silvio cause the confusion between Christopher and Patsy over boosting the tiles at the construction site?

Is he merely trying bring Christopher down a peg or two? Or does he have another motive?

I find it hard to believe he does this just to prove a point as it costs him $20k.

Any thoughts?

IMO It's because he is pissed off with Tony,Tony tells Chris not to boost anymore gear off the site the patsy tells sil about the tiles sil says go ahead take them then pastys says no more boosting and thats come from tony sil then says ill square it with him no problem it's to do with Sil challenging Tony not chris

If i come across the table and take your f*****g eyes out ,will you remember

Season four has a slow start, with abruptly dark tones and characters out of their usual rhythm. I hated it when I first saw it, but now it may be my favourite of the lot.

Silvio felt - as did everyone else - that with Paulie in the can, Patsy should have been acting capo of his crew; he had the seniority, whereas Chris was only as high as he was because his relation to Tony. With Patsy passed over, they all felt Tony was being unfair; and as consigliere, Silvio takes it upon himself to support Patsy.

It's a recurring theme in season four - Tony's loyalty to those around and beneath him being questioned; as well as their loyalty to him. Paulie wanting to defect to New York; Silvio's beef with Tony in the episode you mention (and their concluding meeting in Tony's basement); Tony trying to fish out he who told Johnny Sack about Ralphie's mole joke; and, the key "redeeming" point for Silvio (and Patsy): when Ralphie goes missing after Tony murders him, and Ally Barese ponders who's next in Vesuvio's, Patsy keeps schtum and Silvio goes to take a leak. A sure gesture of saying, "This is the way it is; deal with it."

Good to see you around, F5A! \:D

I've always felt that season four was a transition point for the series. It becomes darker and less character driven, watching season 3 and 4 back to back is lik watching two different shows.

As for Silvio, he liked everybody else, thought Patsy should have made acting Capo of Paulie's crew. Christopher's quick ascendence was making other made guys question Tony, Sil was obligated to do something to send Tony message.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I'm currently watching 1-2 episodes per evening and as you quite rightly say, the transition from season 3 to 4 is a jarring one.

That said I'm loving every second - it's a crying shame that I doubt I will find anything to fill the hole in my tv watching life to fill The Sopranos!

The Wire is fantastic! One of the finest series ever created...close to The Sopranos.

One thing that makes The Sopranos so great of a show is that individual character subplots dont get started and resolved in the same season. I think part of Sil's decision to tell Patsy to lift the wire was that, for one Sil was beginning to think he could do a better job than Tony by allowing Patsy to be acting capo and not Chris. When I heard Sil's comments in 6A, where he wonders about being full-out boss, and in season 5, when Sil and Tony have their "All due respect" arguement, I began to understand Sil's decision in season 4 a little better.

Oh shit man, I'm sorry. Here in Philly we get the episodes a week early due to comcast, I totally forgot. I was talking about it all day, I understand your anger.

My bad,

Edit your original post so others don't see it.

Didn't you read the fact that I haven't even started watching the show yet?
