Snowing in CT. It was slippery as hell this morning on the drive in. Hopefully will leave work early. Wishful thinking!

This is weird. It stopped snowing here but it is still snowing there in NY.

Snowing steadily her. Freezing rain and sleet later, but Sunday will be sunny and 38.

Just shoveled about a inch and a half. Not to bad. When I was done with that I went for a mile walk.

One good thing about the snow it covers up the pot holes in the road.

Hopefully this will be the last huge snowfall for those of you in the wintery climates. It's rainy here, but I can't complain. I actually like the rain.

Just a nasty day. It's mixing with sleet right now, but we still got a good 6 or 7 inches in the city. The roads are a real mess.

So are there school closings there too? As a kid, that was the plus of snowy weather.

We got a call at 5:15 this morning that school was closed (they use a reverse 911 thing). And they are VERY happy.

We used to have to sit by the radio.

They just started this system. It's fairly unreliable. Last time they called after school was supposed to have started. It's easier to check online.

Aren't your schools closed for winter break this week? The public schools here are. Only the private schools here were open this week, but ironically they had off today.

They kill me when they do that. My daughter is in Public Middle school and my son in Private High School. I can't understand why they won't coincide and close for winter recess for the same week. They used to, but then when the mayor's office took over control of the public schools, they changed the week. They screw up any possible vacation plans that we may have wanted to make.

But I guess that Ego maniac, Bloomberg, has to beat to his own drum.

They had off Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

I really don't think it's Bloomberg, DC.

I only say that because when I went to Catholic high school (1973-1977), we had a different winter vacation than the public schools as well.

Don't know about that PB. I've been told by several friends of mine that are NYC school teachers that he and his puppet, Joel Klien, were the driving forces in changing the winter recess week. It had something to do with the contract and it's structure for mandatory hours and stuff. Not sure of the details, but that's what I've been told.

I don't know of Bloomberg that well, but there was talk of him entering the Presidential race. I hear he is filfthy rich. How did he become so rich....what's is source of wealth??? How much is he worth. The news makes it sound like he's one of the wealthiest.

I like him, but I hope he doesn't enter the Presidential race, he might screw things up, a la Ralph Nader or Ross Perot.

I happen to like him also PB. An outstanding businessman. No question about it! Overall the man did a great job with this city. He picked up right where Giuliani left off. And truthfully he had more on his plate than Giuliani did because Bloomberg took this city over only 3 months after the 9/11 attacks. He had to take over a city that was destroyed both financially and morally. He did a great job with re-building this city.

But there are certain things that I believe he should stay out of and only gets involved with because of his ego. And there are also times that he lets his personal dislikes sway him in decisions that he makes.

Would I vote for him again if he were able to run for mayor again? Absolutely.

But sometimes he just pisses me off with his ego.

TIS, for what it's worth, he takes the train to work every morning, and only takes a $1 salary per year as Mayor Of NYC. His reasoning is that he truly wanted to be the Mayor of the city because his intention was to help the city and it's people and not make money at doing it. Of course he doesn't need the money from the city, but heck he doesn't have to work for $1 a year or ride the subway either. I admire him for doing that.

Really???? Wow!! True he doesn't need the money, but still that is impressive. Of course I'll never know, but IF I had that kind of money, I think it's safe to assume the last thing I'd want to do is "work".......at any job. I'd be traveling the world and arranging a BB meet in Corleone Sicily.....on me!!! Dreams are great, aren't they?
