Has anyone here ever played the PC game Gangsters? I used to have this game, you would recruit mobsters and try to extort more territory than the other families and put in some illegal businesses to make money and whatnot.

Anyone know where I could find a copy?

I know there was also a Gangsters 2, but I never played it.

I have this game too, I'll look for it. If I find it I'll sell it to you for $50, plus shipping and handling of another $50, and a "thank you" of $100.

I'm just kidding, shipping and handling will only be 40 max ;\)

I'll look for it over the weekend.

Wow, I have both of these games, although I only played the second a little bit and quit because it wasn't anything like the original.

Gansters was so fun, but nearly impossible! I could never get enough mobsters recruited to attack the rivals gangs. I might have to get this game out and play it again.

I remember very little about the second game, but I remember that it didn't allow you the freedom that the first gave you. You had to follow some sort of a story line, whereas the original let you take over any neighborhood and businesses you wanted, and you could recruit any men you wanted depending on their skills.

I didn't know anyone else played these games!

I'd always have different capos in charge of certain things. Intimidation, Shooting, and always a "bomb squad" made up of a few good bombers and some scrubs. The intimidation crew goes and gets more territory which gives you more power which makes recruiting easier.

I'd send in a bomb squad somewhere and have the shooters hang around to kill the people that try to help

I found the case today, but no CD, sorry Longneck. If I find it I'll let you know though.

The first game was great. I remember I had a fleet of roadsters and tommy guns for one squad I named Murder Inc. and they would raid other territories and blast the hell out of everything. The game had a few annoying glitches though (sometimes people would get arrested and the cop would get shot by another gangster and the hoodlum that got arrested would stay arrested and frozen on the board). I still have the cdrom if you want it (Ill have to look for the manual). I dont think the game works on most OS they got out there now though. Let me know.

Found Gangsters 2 at a garage sale awhile back, just wasn't as good

Gansters 2 wasn't good at all. ALtho I loved the original. Great concept and pretty decent execution given the standard at the time.

Just something always irked me about the way the crime orgs were presented, in terms of race. Then again they were bootlegging gangs so inter-ethnicity cooperation was something of a necessity in the era.
