Anyone here watching Parks and Recreation on NBC? Each and every character is delightful, but Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson take the cake.

Between that and (finally) getting into 30 Rock, I've fallen in love with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey... they are my female comedy idols.

In Europe, this needs no hype at all. But in America, we have no idea. It'll need serious PR work.

I never heard of it. confused It seems like it would get some promo here in the U.S.

Speaking of Speilberg, I heard yesterday on one of the entertainment shows, that he was directing a new tv show about a family who somehow gets transported back to prehistoric times. Anyone else know anything about it? confused

NBC unveiled its new fall schedule Monday at its upfronts presentation in New York. Among the new shows announced was "Smash," a midseason drama starring Katharine McPhee ("American Idol") as a Broadway ingénue that is already being compared with "Glee."

The series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg and is centered on a songwriting duo, played by Tony Award nominee Christian Borle ("Legally Blonde: The Musical") and Debra Messing ("Will & Grace"), who are trying to create a Broadway musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. It also stars Anjelica Huston.

Tintin was a Belgian adventure comic strip, about a kid reporter and his dog, with as much popularity and recognitiion in Europe as Superman or Batman or Spider-Man. Practically unknown in America outside of nerd nation. I think the Euro-residents around here can summarize it much better than I can.

Fascinating enough, several European critics back in the day compared RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK w/ Tintin.

I definitely recommend The Hitcher for anyone who's open to picking up hitchhikers in the future. After that movie, I'd rather pick up a bomb than a hitchhiker.

The HITCHER remake was a bomb too.

Although I haven't watched Smallville for at least the last two seasons (it was getting a little 'out there' for me) I had to tune in to the series finale yesterday where Clark finally transforms to Superman. smile

I don't know why because I've seen this movie more times than I can count, but as I'm changing channels I see that AMC is showing Die Hard. Call me crazy, but I simply can't resist watching at least part of it. I love that movie!!! smile

A left field trailer attached to the otherwise very forgettable PIRATES 4, it made me smile.

Liam Gallagher wants Johnny Depp for Beatles movie

Quote:

The former Oasis star is producing a film about the Fab Four's company Apple Corps, based on Richard DiLello's book "The Longest Cocktail Party".

In an interview with Q magazine, Gallagher he said he would like "Pirates Of The Caribbean" star Depp to take a leading role.

Gallagher, who fronts new band Beady Eye, wants the US actor to play Derek Taylor, the Beatles' long-time publicist.

Has anyone see Hangover II yet? I know it broke records this weekend for comedy. I happened only by chance to watch the first Hangover when it was on HBO. I don't normally get into comedies that much but I loved this one. I laughed so hard, I told everyone I knew to see it. It was hilarious. lol I'm hearing not so good reviews on the new one though.

Speaking of reviews, lately I've been surfing over to Rotten Tomatoes and plugging in the titles of some movies. It's surprising that some of them like Tommy Boy that were hits got bad reviews.

TIS, I want to see it, but haven't yet. I also found the first unexpectedly hilarious. I honestly don't remember the last time I laughed that hard at a movie. My daughter's friends saw the sequel yesterday and said it was just as funny.

SB,

I just happened to be searching for something good to see. To be honest, when I choose a movie or go to a theater, I always choose the drama or action, but never comedy. I tuned in to the Hangover and was cracking up thru the whole thing. I called both my kids right after and told they they had to see it. My daughter and son-in-law rented it that same weekend and thought it was really funny. Usually though, sequels never match up, but you never know. Let me know if you do see it smile

A movie I saw recently that was absolutely hilarious was "Death at a funeral". I didn't expect to laugh so hard. A good DVD or netflix choice.
