TIS

Ever see the original TIS?

Yes, I did DC. The movie and performances were very good, but this is a rare exception (for me anyway), where I like the remake better than the original. You????

\:\)

TIS

I agree. As I posted earlier, both a very good movies, but DeNiro's Max Cady is much much more of a chilling and scary character than Mitchums.

You ever see Mitchum in Night Of The Hunter?

DC,

I know of the movie, but have never seen it. Is Mitchum the villan?

Speaking of renting movies, I find I don't rent very much either. I use to rent movies every weekend. \:o Remember when video stores were new??? I remember lines forming when a new movie was released on video. It was a first come, first serve. Doesn't seem that long ago does it?

I think I've rented maybe two movies in a year (the "24" series and last week The Bourne Supremecy"), but that's it.

SB,

Are you thinking of "Wait Until Dark" with Audrey Hepburn? I think The Night Of The Hunter was made in the late 50's or so.

"Night of the Hunter": A great role for Mitchum, and a great film, DC. I should have included it in my list of underappreciated films in another thread.

Wow, I'm surprised to see as many Max Cady fans. De Niro did a fantastic job with the role and I thought he deserved the Oscar. Who beat him out that year for it?

But DeNiro's Max Cady was much more scary.

Both were excellent films, and both Mitchum and Robert De Niro portrayed Cady very well. But De Niro's Cady was a virtually unstoppable and vicious psychopath.

Other favorite villains:

Hannibal Lecter
Dennis Hopper's character in Blue Velvet
Francis Dolarhyde from the movie Manhunter
Jason Voorhees
Jame Gumb
Scorpio from Dirty Harry
Little Bill from Unforgiven
Harry Powell from Night of the Hunter

I'll think of more soon...

I'm alright with that one.
