Oh, you're welcome. I understand those were not actually Godfather era pix though. I'll post one hopefully later tonight or tomorrow. \:D

This picture of my dad has been taken in 1959.

And this is of my mom's uncle, who passed away eight years ago, but was closer to us than my first uncles. I miss him so much. This must have been taken in early 60's.

Love those 50's hairdo's. Your mom's uncle had great eyes, Afs.

Oh, yes, they were absolutely gorgeous. You couldn't say if they were gray or blue. But you should see his wife. I sometimes wonder how a woman like that can land such a handsome guy.

Too bad we don't have a single picture of her. \:\/

What and where is the impressive-looking structure behind your Dad in the '59 picture?

Turnbull, that's 33Pol (see-o-se pol meaning 33 arches bridge), built in early 17th century located here in my hometown Esfahan and is considered as the iconic feature of our town. I posted a few pictures of it here in this thread :

33 Pol

As that topic might not load fast enough due to many pictures that I've posted on a single page, here are two links to those pix:

Great pictures Afs. That bridge looks absolutely huge. I agree, it is interesting seeing bridges/buildings from other countries. I don't think the U.S. has a bridge even vaguely similar to that one.

Nice looking father & uncle too. And Beth, as far as the hairdos go I do like them. These days the shaved/bald look is in. It's nice to see a thick head of hair again.

Thanks TIS. It is interesting to know that this bridge was built even a few years earlier than the time Mayflower reached the United States.

And yes, I absolutely love those hairdos. Men have become extremely lazy these days.

Very cool picture of your dad; he has that "Rod Serling" (from "The Twilight Zone") look going on (tight suit with thin tie). That was the fashion of the time (late 50's/early 60's).

I used to have a head of hair like him... but it was at about the same time as when that picture was taken. \:\(

Michael Corleone was dealing with Hyman Roth when that picture was taken.

Thanks SC. \:\)

Yes, in that picture he does look like him. Here is a more clear photo of him, taken in 1956 or 57 perhaps:

And I'm not sure when this was exactly taken. \:\/

But the point I'm trying to make is, he as well has lost most of his hair. He looks at these pictures and says he cannot believe these are of him, or that he ever had this much hair. When he looks at these photos, he often says: "Cruel cruel life; it takes away whatever has given you one by one over the time..."

Wow... you can REALLY see the resemblance (you to him) in that first picture!

Those two pix are the only ones in which he is almost smiling. Is he a very serious man?

Yes, I do look like him a lot. \:D

He is not that serious at all, but as a rule, he hardly smiles for camera or even looks into the lens. Not sure why.

This is my grandparents wedding photo taken about 1914. My grandmother was 15 in this photo, my grandfather was 17, they eloped in Michigan, lied about their ages so they could get married. (She said she was 16, he said he was 18, or something like that (it's on the marriage certificate). Then they came back to Indiana and had a miserable life together! Hopefully the first few years were very happy though!! I really, really hope so!

Below is my grandmother again (right) and her sister on the left taken about 1913. I don't know what is with the tie she is wearing!! It was sort of the style I guess.... She had these huge blue eyes. I probably take after her more than any of my grandparents.

Those are really sweet. Isn't it strange how back then getting married at 16 or 17 just seemed to be the thing to do. My mom says they acted older then their ages back then. Now 16 year olds act 8..haha. It's sweet to see our parents and grandparents before we were even thought of. It's like seeing how their lives were when we weren't there.

45ACP,

What nice pictures. I love the style of the 40's. Your mother has a glamorous look. \:\) That picture of her on the porch reminds me of my childhood home. Didn't all homes have a front porch back then? And your mom's dress could have just as easily been my mother who always wore a dress.

And, a bubble bath on her wedding night? How cute. I wonder if that was risque' back then.

Wonderful pictures! Thanks for sharing.

I meant to post in this thread before, but I totally forgot about it. Sorry about the flashes.. I don't have a scanner, so I took pictures with my digital camera.

My Grandparents (shortly after he returned from the war and they were about to get married) This would be aroounnnddd 1945?
1945 - Michael discharged from the Marines, Connie gets married, and Woltz wakes up with Kartoum.

My Grandpa. He died 4 years before I was born, so I never got to meet him. I'm not sure about the date on this picture, but I'm sure it was taken either right before the war, or during it

Sorry about the size of this image, but I've always liked it. This is my Grandpa's crew. He was a navigator on a B-24. They were shot down, and were in the same POW camp that The Great Escape was based from. My Grandpa is in the back row, on the left.

This is an ooooooooold picture. The girl in the back on the left was named Beatrice. She died when she was 14 of leukemia, not long after this picture. The eyes on this picture follow you when you walk by, and my mom actually talks to Beatrice sometimes, to add to the creepiness. Haha. Anyway, I'd guess this is from the late 1800s?
1891 - Vito Andolini is born.

Another old picture, from maybe the early 1900s? The empty chair is for my Great-Great-Grandpa I think. He'd died shortly before they took the photo. I guess that was a custom. I think its creepy, too. Haha. Actually, the story about his death is kind of weird too. He was a known sleepwalker, and one night he went to bed and went for a midnight sleep-stroll. He walked right out the 2nd story window and impaled himself on their white picket fence. They didn't find him for a few hours (maybe all night) but he didn't die for another 2 days or so.
1901 - Vito Andolini emigrates to the US.

My Grandma. I'm pretty sure this is where I got my tomboy-ness. This is around 1928, judging by how old she looks.

Welsh national rugby team. I wish I could remember what year its from. Late 1800s, I'd guess. The one with the arrow is my Great-Great-Great-(Great?)-Grandpa. We've got that cap he's wearing in my family room back home.

An addition from 1959. Mama Corleone just died and Fredo got whacked.

Thats me (on the left at age 8) and my brother (then 16). Notice my authentic Brooklyn Dodgers cap (they moved out of Brooklyn two years earlier). I'm holding a catcher's mitt that my brother had given me... damned thing used to weigh more than I did:

Both are gone. I lost my mom in 1968 (46 years old) to breast cancer. My dad passed five years ago (80 years old).

Thanks to all for the compliments on my mom. She was beautiful, both inside and out. There were 400 cars in the funeral procession from the church to the cemetary in Oklahoma City. She was loved by many throughout the community.

Bogey,

I'm sorry I didn't acknowledge your pics as well. How clear they are considering how old (the ones of your grandparents) are. Hang on to them and treasure them. You'll never be able to replace them. ;\)

The group picture of the soldiers (is it the Navy?)..the man at bottom left kind of reminds me of my father when he was young. I think he has a similar picture with a similar pose. Most likely that's why I thought of him. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
