My father had been telling me for years that Deadwood was the second best show on HBO. So the other day I borrowed season one and you what....it's fantastic! Almost as good as The Sopranos!

It's a shame HBO cancelled due to costs because it is really a great show. So many great characters and scenes it's hard to imagine how this show never really took off in popularity.

Has anyone else seen Deadwood?

I watched Seasons 1 & 2. Season 1 was good but Season 2 I didn't enjoy as much. I have no desire presently to see Season 3. I did love Ian McShane as Al Swearengen. I had heard prior to viewing he was reminiscent of the Bill 'The Butcher' character from GANGS OF NEW YORK, which was my main reason for viewing the show. However, HBO's best show after THE SOPRANOS is OZ!

"Deadwood" was a great series. I watched it faithfully. McShane was brilliant, but so were many other characters. The combination of filthy and Edwardian language, the claustrophobic look of the town, the civic-mindedness combined with greed...a unique Western.

I need to start watching The Wire and Curb Your Enthusiasm. I've only seen one episode of Curb but never of The Wire.

Big Deadwood fan. Great Charectors and brilliant writing.
And Al Swearengen along with Tony Soprano and Ari Gold are the three best charectors on HBO.

I have been watching Davis Milch's new HBO show John from Cincinatti which has alot of Deadwood alumni.

The Wire is easily the best show on tv. Never really understood why it's not as mainstream as the Sopranos.

You guys need to check out Big Love on HBO

Long as I remember The rain been coming down.
Clouds of Mystery pouring Confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages, Trying to find the sun;
And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.

Me too but I knew to expect it. I'm just glad this past season wasn't it. Originally it was suppose to but they expended the show's contract. Do you know how much longer it's going to be on?

I agree.

It's a crime that perhaps arguably the best television show ever, The Wire, goes relatively unwatched.

I could venture a few guesses as to why The Sopranos, Deadwood, and Six Feet Under are overwhelmingly more popular than The Wire.

HBO has done a spectacularly crappy job in promoting the show. However, kudos to them for agreeing to a final fifth season despite dropping viewership.

I began watching The Wire in 2005 and it is very good. The problem I have with The Wire is that I have no character to root for. In The Sopranos there's Tony and in Deadwood there's Bullock.

Still a great show though. Sad to hear the upcoming season is the last. With The Sopranos, Deadwood, and now The Wire all gone...what is there to waTch on HBO?

McNulty.

And the Wire still has season 5 to air, so it's not gone yet.

My 2 personal faves are The Shield and The Wire.

That is now that The Sopranos is over of course
