I couldn't seem to find a thread on the Mafia game so i started my own one.
I first played it properly last night and i got to say, they almost ruin the game with those tedious repetitive driving missions at the start.WTF is up with that.I almost turned it off after those repeated taxi missions. But i stuck with it (mostly cause i was bored as hell) and then the game started to unfold a bit. After the first missions the game starts to get quite enjoyable and interesting.Yes there is all the mafia cliche' dialogue and chapter names, but all in all so far im loving it now.

Your thoughts....

The PC version is the only version worth playing, IMO. I have both the PC version and PS2 version (and have played the Xbox version.) They can't hold a candle to the PC version. The console editions are plagued with extremely long load times, choppy graphics and frame rates, and terrible draw distances (although the Xbox version performs better in this area than the PS2 version.)

I'd give the PC version a 9/10, while giving the console versions a 5/10.

Thats funny cause i havn't played the console versions but my pc is old as shit so the game goes a bit weird at times..like the frame rates etc...but i still love it.

MAFIA is probably my favorite game of all time, I must have played it from start to finish maybe 8 times and started playing it again recently. The FreeRide Mode and FreeRide Extreme or something like that are very enjoyable as well.

They've been talking for years about making a MAFIA 2 so I can't wait for that.

Mafia was great. Awsome story line and and the car physics were amazing (one of the feature that most games in the genre lack). Lved the level when you had to drive that race car to the garage and back. Overall an amazing game.

Yea there are tons of Mafia mods for the PC. If my computer had a good graphics card I'd play it but I just have the Xbox version.

I could not stand the Xbox version

Long as I remember The rain been coming down.
Clouds of Mystery pouring Confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages, Trying to find the sun;
And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.

I cant believe you guys didnt like the car physics. I thought that was one of the best bits of the game because it made the game feel realistic and more enjoyable. Reminded me of Gran turismo.

The pc version of the race, was almost impossible to beat.I had to do the shortcut trick to pass it.

I didn't think the cars were too slow, they were pretty accurate for the time period.

You just have to make sure to not go off road and take every turn as close as possible. Also, stay "straight" as long as you can, the second you move your car loses speed.

It all depends what setting you have it on (I think there are settings), if you aren't playing it on easy then you really can't make a mistake.

I didn't have the option of changing the difficulty setting!!!

BLAST!!!That would have made it so much less stressful.

Maybe I'm wrong and there are no settings. Its been a while since I've played it. Just make sure you dont move around so much and you should be fine.
