Anyone see this movie?
SC - "Giorgio's Lobster Farm" sound familiar to you at all? I liked the movie.... it had some elements of "29th Street" (also with Danny Aiello) that made it enjoyable. Sure I recognized the location... I used to live a ½ mile away from Jordan's Lobster Dock and often went there for fish and lobster.

actually is 29th street worth a watch??? Absolutely!!! I think its one of the most underrated movies I've ever seen and its Danny Aiello's best role. Its "Goodfellas" meets "Its a Wonderful Life"... an absolutely riveting, poignant story and brilliantly acted. (Its based on a true story). Its an "SC MUST SEE"!!!

I was in the video store today and this caught my eye. I didn't rent it, but hadn't heard of it previously, so it's funny that I decided to wander into this section of the site today of all days.
"Somebody told me when the bomb hits, everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time, avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like you're always underwater refracted. But if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body. Big-kid-tested, motherf--ker approved."

I used to do all my fresh seafood shopping at Jordan's years ago. Haven't seen the film, but it certainly sounds worthwhile. BTW, any truth to the rumor that the sequel will be called Coney Island Whitefish? (Go ahead, explain that if you dare!) Signor V.

Yeah...practically leaping out of the surf and beaching themselves on the clean, white sand. Kinda gets me all nostalgic for Brooklyn The Way It Was. (Remember when James Caan explained it to Mandy Pantinkin in the original Alien Nation? ) Signor V.

Did you see the "Old Brooklyn Photos" in the Organized Crime forum?? I was kind of surprised you didn't respond there. There's a link (in the first post) to a WONDERFUL site that I think you'll love.... some good pix of Kings Highway!

(Go ahead, explain that if you dare!) The beach would be covered with them after a warm summer evening. How prejudiced is that.

Did you see the "Old Brooklyn Photos" in the Organized Crime forum?? I was kind of surprised you didn't respond there. Yes, I did see those great photos - and my apologies for not responding sooner. I think I was just trying to come up with something intelligent to say and ended up with writer's block. My mother grew up on Miller Ave. (graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School) and my father had a furniture/appliance store on Sutter Ave. in the early 1960's. Lotsa memories, to be sure. I'll post anything additional in the proper thread. Beth - "prejudiced"? I'm a little confused here, but I will say this much - as far as Coney Island Whitefish, I'm definitely not playing the "race card"! Trust me on that. Signor V.

Ok, I won't butt my nose into another conversation anymore.
Man, New York does have it's own language doesn't it. My brother used to sell "warm spots" in the ocean.... (when swimming at the beach he'd pee in the water and ask another kid if he'd want to buy a warm spot).

I'm sure that's a story your brother loves to tell the little ones. "Ok Johnny, now don't forget to use the potty like a big boy". Johnny: "Why, you used to use the ocean".
