Welcome to the boards, VictorC!

Many of our discussions get recycled and renewed; I'm sure this one will be discussed again and again.

to tell you the truth i can not imagine anyone playing the character parts beside those who already have maybe Sly Stallone as Vincent. THAT would be intersting!

The hardest to replace have to be Vito and Michael. But i always tempted to say Joe Pesci has to be in it somehwere. He's too short and has too much less of hair (and not curly) to play Sonny. Maybe he could fattened himself up to play Clemenza. I dont know actually.

What do you think if this Phonenix's brother (who played this "caesar" in Gladiator?) play as the young michael corleone. I mean he has the stare to be ruthless.

Sly is too muscle-bound to be a young Vito, remember how he looked in the film "Oscar"?

If you have a pic of Robert Downy Jr. He looks a lil like a young Al Pacino, so he could work well as Michael Corleone.

Andy Garcia could play Sonny Corleone, though that's just a guess.
Dennis Franz (NYPD Blue) could play Clemenza, he's got the right look, as well as demeanor.

Gwenyth Paltrow could play Kay Adams

That's all I could get so far

I would have a hard time choosing if GF was recast today. However, I agree with Crazy Man that Robert Downey Jr. would be a good replacement for Pacino. He is a underated as an actor I think. ohwell I too think Joe Pesci would fit in somewhere, but not exactly sure where. Can't see him as Sonny or any of the main characters. As far as Andy Garcia, well, I never cared for his casting in GFIII, but we won't go into that again. rolleyes

I think Dennis Franz could play Vito. We know him as a neurotic cop, but I think his acting skills would pull it off.

Marisa Tomei - Connie
Edward Burns - Sonny
Ed Harris - Tom (but he is getting a little old)

Robert Downey might be a little old for Michael. Johnny Depp maybe?

How about this: Joe Pesci as Clemenza? (maybe at middle age). He's kind of comical in a weird way. lol

I would have to say the guy from CSI, Nick Stokes is his character name, would make a good Michael.

We need a role for my pal Frank Vincent (maybe Barzini.)

Chazz Palmienteri as Vito or Barzini

John Tuturro or Nicholas Cage as Tessio

"Big Pussy" (from The Sopranos) as Clemenza
Michael Imperioli as Paulie Gatto
Edward Norton as Fredo

I like Vincent Pastore as Clemenza.

This one is gonna sound ridiculous at first, but think about it for a minute. The guy has played a few serious roles fairly well...

Woody Allen as Hyman Roth

and then,

Jackie Mason as Moe Greene

or

James Caan today as either

Christopher from the Sopranos (Thats Imperioli right?) would be a good Sonny, he always reminds me of him when I watch HBO.

The toughest person to cast for would be Vito, its hard because I could not envision anyone playing him as well as Brando did...maybe Del Toro as the young vito, but I have no clue for the old vito.
