Most popular shows get a spin-off (ala "All In The Family/The Jeffersons"), I wonder if Chase is purposely ending The Sopranos just so he can embark on a spin-off show. If the spin-off fails, it will in no way impact the success of The Sopranos.

Which character would deserve a spin-off?

I'd nominate Anthony "A.J." Soprano (Robert Iler) to have his own show. Now that they're making his character a little more interesting than ever before, they may decide to branch out on how his character fleshes out as he grows into his 30's.

The new spin-off would feature A.J. "outside" of his Soprano household, this way you wouldn't need actors like James Gandolfino or Edie Falco on hand, except for cameos. A.J.'s exploits on the street, in school, in social surroundings.

I mean, who else could it be? Seems to me that Christopher's story is going to be wrapped up at this season's end. And Paulie and Silvio are too old to have their own series, and they work best in a "Tony Soprano" surrounding. Gandolfini's going off on his own, so you can feggetabout having him (except in the occasional cameo).

Thoughts?

Just browsing the TV, I was amazed at how many shows and commercials Steve Schirripa (Bobby Bacala) is on...Hollywood Squares, this Discovery Channel show about the mob, a foot cream commercial, etc...that I think that he is the most marketable character/actor outside of Gandolfini right now.

But what if Meadow and AJ took over as Bosses of the Family? That would def. make for good plots...

Meadow....I doubt. A spinoff wouldn't work in my opinion...

Agreed. I would compare AJ/Meadow to the Corleone kids. Not exactly the same as the Tattaglia/Barzini kids. More educated and more capable of leading the families into the "new-generation."

Maybe these kids have been seen for years by the other families as possible heirs to the throne. And....maybe they've been seen as extraordinary and exemplar compared to other kids of the NY/NJ mob families.

Oh No! Do I see another Mary and Vincent on the horizon?

Or perhaps a GFIII Connie and Michael?

Meadow : "Now New York will fear you!"

AJ : "Well maybe they should fear you."

An infamita? Why? You don't think that Meadow could pull the strings?

She is trained by the great Soprano, scored about 1000 pts higher on her SAT than most of the Dons, and you know she will certainly castrate an enemy upon request. ;\)

The new spinoff would involve all the dead guys from "The Sopranos" coming back to get revenge. Kind of like "The Dawn of the Dead" meets "The Sopranos".

Ralphie would be the "head" of the Family.

I really doubt that Chase would do a spinoff, but who knows if someone else will? The only thing is, you know it'd be second rate. It's always nearly impossible to top an original.

If, however, there were a spinoff, I can't see either AJ or Meadow (at least not starring)in the show. If Christopher makes it to the end of this season, his character may be interesting.

Don't forget Ade.

And didn't they already do that: Innocent Blood.

I think a spin off with Artie would be fun. They could name it "Arties amazing Italien investegation". In the show we follow Arties who has now dropped out of the resturant buisness, and has becommed a private eye, but the funny thing would be that he always screws up and starts crying, and then he ask Tony for help.

I just thought of the craziest way to end it....

What if Chris ends up talking with the Feds, and his stories cause him to become the creator and writer for "The Sopranos" television show, based on his experiences?

Wasn't that an episode of the Twilight Zone, Amazing Stories, or some such?

Wasn't that the basic plot line for W*A*L*T*E*R?

I must admit that would be very intriguing but I highly doubt it would be so unrealistic that it just wouldn't work.

A.J. is too much of a whiny ass to be belelievable as a boss, and Meadow? come on folks lets get real here.

But that's just my 2 cents.

I seem to remember talk on here a few years back about a collabaration between Guy Ritchie and David Chase focused on the life of 'Johnny Boy' Soprano.

For me that would be the only spin-off that could do any credit to The Sopranos.
