A'ight, I went to the grocery store today and on my way out this book caught my eye on the magazine rack.

The cover looks almost identical to the Season 6 Part I DVD set, but says "Special Collector's Edition / The Sopranos / The Book":

It's 128pp, magazine-sized paperback, from HBO & Time Inc., $11.99 cover price ("Display until 7/30/07")

So I bring it home - looks nice, lots of pictures and articles. I check online to see if it's on Amazon, and I see something completely different, with the same name and ISBN number.

This one -- same title, same ISBN number, same publisher, different cover -- has (it says) 192pp (rather than 128pp) and costs $14.93 ($21.95 list). And despite the release date of May 15, 2007, Amazon says it's in stock and shipping.

WTF is up with that, I wondered... so then went to HBO's site store...

...and they have what looks like a third different cover!

...With the same release date as is on Amazon.com, I assume perhaps it's the same one w/ a different cover?

I don't know WTF. But, apparently, Amazon is taking pre-orders for the Hardcover "Deluxe Edition" (no cover photo) due out in October (224pp hardcover). So perhaps I'll wait for that one, then see how they compare...

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

So the real fantatic buys ALL THREE versions and they make more money that way.

I saw the red one at Barnes and Nobles last weekend, some interesting stuff but not worth the cover price of $25. I don't think it was supposed to be out until this weekend, said released in May 07 back in April...

Clouds of Mystery pouring Confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages, Trying to find the sun;
And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.

The one coming out in october will be "complete" with an additional chapter about the final 9 episodes.

I saw the red one at B&N yesterday. It's interesting but nothing new. I'll wait till october.

it would be nice if The Sopranos was "serialized" in novel form. From beginning to end, the whole story and all the inner thoughts each character had.

I just got back from the gtrocery store, and saw this book (the first one you posted Geoff, with the cast on the cover). I made one of those stops this morning to pick up something I forgot. \:p Anyway, I bought it, and haven't had a chance to read it yet, but it looks really good. From what I can tell it has pictures stories on the cast, beautiful pictures of the inside of the Sopranos home, which is even more beautiful and bigger than I imagined. \:o Nice shots of "The Bing", and different locations; a section on Chase and so much more. So, are all three you posted the same then or what??

I picked it up, and put it down a couple times, thinking, I'll get it next week. Then I thought, if it's a collector's edition, maybe it won't be there next time I look, so I just bought it. I paid $12.00. To me, it's worth it.

What about a Sopranos comic book?

In this day and age of graphic novels, comics and the like, that's not such a crazy idea.

A lot of big fans thought the Stephen King DARK TOWER comic series would be a big joke, but that one's actually very nicely done, if you're into that sort of thing...I guess I might pick up a SOPRANOS comic, but...I think they're putting most of their "other medium" bang into the videogame, which I haven't bought (we don't have the 360 yet, though the kids are clamoring for one)--wonder if that one's any good?
