This year's christmas has to be the best one ever. Finally I got The Godfather Trilogy, when watching the deleted scenes I came up with some questions:

1. Why doesn't Vito take Tom to Genco's deadbed, while all of his sons can come, and even his godson Johnny? And also, why doesn't he take Mama and Connie, they must've wanted to pay their respects as well.

2. Is every single deleted scene included on the bonus disc? I want to know why, because when another one will be released I won't have to buy it to see the other deleted scenes.

I'll come up with more later.

The first question: look at this link http://www.thegodfathertrilogy.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=004135

I asked the same question a few weeks ago (question 3)

The second question.

>After The Don tells Tom he's to go to California, Tom tells him that the hospital called and the dying Consiglieri Genco won't last the night.

>After Sonny gets the call from Sollozzo, he goes to tells Carmella that the Don's been shot. He then calls up Tessio to get 50 of his men over. He tries to call Luca, but he's not there.

>There's added footage of singing on the grandstand, and in the parking lot. We also see Anthony walking up to the buttomen, and stopping as Kay calls after him.
(Taken from JGEOFF's site!)

Yes, check out the link that MM Floors posted. The reason Connie didn't go to Genco's deathbed was that she was on her way to her honeymoon. Mama, presumably, was busy kissing Connie goodbye and supervising the wedding cleanup. And anyway, the Genco farewell was "man stuff" in the value system of the time.
Two more deleted scenes that I'll add to MM Floors' list:
1. After Hagen calls Bonasera to tell him that the Don will meet him at his funeral parlor, you see him getting dressed and complaining fearfully to his wife: "Do you know why he called me? They've killed somebody so important that they want him buried [by a funeral director]. I curse-a the day that you and Commore [Godmother] Corleone became friends." An excellent scene: I'm surprised it wasn't included in the DVD "extras" disc.
2. At the very end of the Gardiner Shaw scene from GFII, Michael turns to a hulking young man in a checked jacket and says, "How are you, Santino?" "Fine, Uncle Mike," he replies. This 5-second snippet was left off the DVD extra scene but it's important because it shows us one of Sonny's sons, grown up.
The above two appear in the TV version of the "Saga."

So they are in the Saga. Not in the Epic? And the 3 scenes I've mentioned above, are they in the Epic/Saga?

MMF, are you sure that isn't on the bonus disc, I watched it a couple of days ago, and I'm positive that I saw Hagen saying to the don that Genco wouldn't make it trough the night. And I can also remember Sonny getting that call and telling Mama. confused

I got another question. Why is GFII in the set on 2 DVDs, while GF, Part III and The Bonus Disc are of equal length, and yet still on just one disc?

First answering your first question MC14. I took it all from JGeoff's site. I didn't (Unfortunately) check the accuracy. Maybe you are right.

Second question: I've asked that one before. I don't know the answer actually. But a very good search will do the trick.

I also received the DVD trilogy for Christmas and i was shocked by the number of deleted scenes and the remaining features. There is so much shit on that last DVD which just makes the set that much better.

There is another short but good deleted scene thats not in the dvd set. Its from Godfather2 when Genco and Vito go to see senza mama singers wife. And right before Genco and Vito get to the door, you see Fanucci saying to the owner you should have some opera and some sicilian or naples music. Good scene I only seen it on the saga on tv.

Theres not that much really! I was disappointed after all the hype about it! I would estimate the deleted scenes (shown on DVD) as adding to less than 10 minutes of play-time. I thought I'd be seeing another movie, such was the hype!

To answer Michael Corleone 14's question: The Godfather and The Godfather Part III are about 175 and 170 minutes in length, respectively. That equals about 2 hours and 50 minutes each. The Godfather Part 2, though, is 200 minutes exactly. This equals about 3 hours and 20 minutes. DVDs can only hold about 3 hours of film. If you've ever watched The Fellowship of the Ring and its extended counterpart on DVD, you'll notice that the original 3 hour version is housed perfectly on one disc, where as the extended version spans two discs, though it only has about 30 minutes more footage. So since Part II exceeds the 3 hour limit that DVDs have by 20 minutes, it was put on two discs, split right at its theatrical intermission. I hope that answered your question.

By the way, I'm new on this board... this is my first post.

Clemenza: All right, you shot 'em both... now what do you do?

Michael: Sit down, finish my dinner...

wow a girl who likes Viggo over Orlando Bloom, there's something you don't hear every day. I guess they are well written and attract a young teenage crowd. The themes in the movies and books I enjoy, as well as the characters.

going off-topic here, but yeah, surprise surprise to pick Viggo over Orlando, but I've seen weider things.

Its more than the deleted scenes u want to know about its also the history of how the Godfather was made, from that u have a lot to deal with
