I really don't think The Departed was the best movie of the year, it was decent but nothing great. And after that I don't think I even need to say that I feel Scorsese should NOT be winning best director for that.

Unforgiven and Million Dollar Baby were not in the same league as Flag of our Fathers though.....I think the Departed is right in that bottom league however.

I like Martin. But the amount of Oscars that one person has won should have absolutely no bearing on nominating them again if the work that they did that year warrants it.

It's like telling a Baseball player who won the triple crown last year that he cannot win it again this year even if he leads the league in all the required categories.

First off, FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS was melodrama dreck that follows the SAVING PRIVATE RYAN visual example....there is a good reason why it bombed in theatres.

Besides, LETTERS was more interesting....and accomplishing.

The Departed was twice as good as Flags Of Our Fathers. There's a reason it was a bomb at the box office (hint, it was all hype)

So Marty should win it even though his film doesn't truly warrant it, isn't that why they have Lifetime achievement awards?

I think the real reviewers vote with their brains rather than their hearts.

Quit the hate on Marty. It's his night (finally) brother.

In your opinion, it doesn't warrant it. The Departed was great.
