There is a huge scratch in disc 1 and now I need some advice. Paramount really have my palle in a vice. We still cannot buy single movies right? Who has any bright ideas? confused

i believe you cannot buy single disc, you have to by the whole trilogy. your final option is to buy a bootleg copy . . .

You could try emailing their customer service and seeing if they will send you a replacement disc (most likely regardless how long you've had the movie, but also for a price).

Or- if you (or someone you love tongue ) has a DVD burner, it is possible that the burner might be able to read even the scratched section and you can burn it to a DVD-R.

Why don't you just rent the dvd and replace it with the video stores copy?

1.) That's really frigging annoying to whoever rents the DVD. Not only are you being an asshole, but they will probably find out because 2.) Most places, like Blockbuster, place barcodes or other labels that say something like "property of blockbuster video" on the DVD itself. rolleyes

Don't be an ass, just send them the DVD and pay the small fee. wink

Just do what I did. Be honest (none of this switch the Blockbuster disc nonsense). I had my DVD over a year (from Circuit City) when I fianlly decided to sit down and watch GFI in full. I then discovered it had a skipping problem. I went down the next day and spoke with the manager and explained my problem (with receipt in hand). She was more than happy to replace that disc. She just opened a boxed set off the shelf and we exchanged discs. They just ship the defective boxed sets back anyway. Just make sure you clearly state your not trying to return anything nor want any money back. That's when you'll have a problem. This also worked with a problem I had with a disc on the boxed set of "The World at War" series. In case anyone was going to ask what took me so long, I was again prepared to tell the truth. GF is on so often on television, there was no need for me to see the DVD, and when I did need to I discovered the problem. The "World at War" set was different. That is a 26 part series and my problem was with episode 20 something. So in that case time was going to go by 20 episodes into the series before you discover something. For the most part, these places do want to make there customers happy and satisfy them within reason.

All very interesting advice....

Paramount's website mentions niente about disc repair/replacement, not even their links. That's out. As funny and tempting that is about Blockbuster(screw them, they can get a replacement disc for nothing) I have many discs with scratches of which will be laborious to replace. So, there is a repair kit out there for $20 so I will check that out and report back.

You could try emailing their customer service (or similar alternative)... [Linked Image]

As for disk fixers (such as Disc Dr.), they are pretty hit or miss. My experiences with them are that they either fix it or wreck it worse than it was originally. I've heard horror stories about DVD's (especially video game DVD-ROM's) being completely ruined to fix a small error or something. [Linked Image]
