In that case, then, pretty much any record is possible to break, no?

Good grief whenever the topic of sports records and which ones are the least likely to ever be broken. There is one record that is never mentioned, and it's a guarantee that this one will never be broken.

Set back in 1983 it's the NFL record for the longest run from scrimmage, 99 yards set by Tony Dorsett. It can be tied(which will probably never happen either) but it can never be broken, unless the NFL increases the size of the field.

Did Dorsett tie someone when he made that run against the Vikings on Monday Night Football?

From the line of scrimmage on that play, the tip of the ball was almost touching the goal line.

By the way, the longest touchdown run by an NFL QB belongs to Kordell Stewart, who ran 80 yards for a score against the Panthers in, I think, 1996 or 1997.

Nope, he is the only one to ever do it.

If you ever see the replay of the run, watch the last 15-20 yards. It looks as though the Minnesota defender can easily knock him out of bounds, but Dorsett stays in bounds and sheds the defender.

I became a Viking fan when I was 11 after the Cowboys fired Landry in 90. Don't know why, I just did. But I LOVE Tony Dorsett and seeing that replay is always very bittersweet for me.

I'm all for letting you head the BCS, Irish. Notre Dame will play the Yankees every yr! That's if you actually let them play instead of handing them the trophy in August!

Poor Gators, they may have won the BCS but they weren't even allowed to play in the IRISHMAN12 Championship Series.

No more college football for you.

Now now now, don't be bitter bitter longhorn fan. UT didn't get to screw the rest of the country this year and had to settle with a squiker of a win at the Alamo Bowl

Johnny Vander Meer's two consecutive no-hitters. To break this record, that would mean that someone would need to pitch THREE consecutive no-hitters.

UCLA's 7 NCAA basketball titles in a row will also never be broken.

I concur. Also the Boston Celtics run of 9 straight in the NBA.

In this day and age, getting a starter to COMPLETE three straight games would be an accomplishment !

Actually it was 8. The Bulls might have done it had MJ not retired. They won 3 in a row, then didn't win 2, then won 3 more when MJ returned.

Could we add Coach Bobby Knight's record as the most winningest coach in Division I men's college basketball? It will be a long time before someone breaks his record. Now he just needs some talent to come to Texas Tech.
