Imagine there's still Lennon,
It's really hard to do,
twenty six years have passed,
a piece of us died that day too,
Imagine there’s still Lennon
singing for today...

Imagine there's still Lennon,
It’s so hard to do,
new music in the eighties & nineties,
Maybe a Beatle reunion too,
Imagine there’s still Lennon
singing of living in peace...

Imagine there’s still Lennon,
I wonder if you can,
What causes would he stand for,
as a mature older man,
Imagine there’s still Lennon
Singing to the world...

You may say he was a dreamer,
but he guided us as one,
I hope this day you'll remember,
All You Need is Love…

We Still Miss You John

Rock on John!!

Every time I'm in New York I make it a point to stop by Strawberry Fields and The Dakota to reflect. It's very moving.

I didn't know until this morning that the famous picture Annie Lebowitz took of naked John and Yoko was actually taken on the morning that he was killed.

Last year, I had done a WHAT IF? thread on BB.Net, that debated what would have happened if Lennon had not been killed in 1980.

If he had lived, I doubt we would have seen an actual Beatles reunion. Perhaps a one-time gig at Live Aid(i.e. Pink Floyd at Live 8 last year) or maybe a PPV/Tour money-making situation.

I remember that day well! What a shock that was. I come from a generation where drugs took many of our heros/rock idols from us, but to get murdered in cold blood??? How horrible. He definitely made a huge impact in the music world and is still missed today. If he were still around, I would love to hear "Give Peace A Chance" one more time. How cool would that be?

Like millions of others, I learned the news of Lennon's death from Howard Cosell while watching Monday Night Football. I was 16 and didn't really appreciate the Beatles music at the time. It wasn't until about 10 years later when the significance of his death started to reach me. I don't know if I fully can understand the impact today.

I know I've mentioned this before, but we moved to CA in 1980, and in October of that year while driving back from dinner, and exploring the area, we passed a pizza place with a huge banner on the building that said, "John Lennon is 40 today"! I thought, how cool and couldn't believe he was 40 years old.

It was only two months later that he was killed. After hearing the news I flashed back to that pizza parlor for some reason.
