Well, we discussed what we do,our favorite cereals and our personal preferences in changing a pillowcase. And I enjoyed reading those threads.

Now how about telling us about your pets.

My family has a 1 year old brindle colored shih-tzu, which Santa brought my daughter last year. She named her Coco. One of my sons has a leoprd gecko lizard I gave him for his sixth birthday, 5 and a half years ago. His name is Romando.

I love pets, particularly cats, to which my wife is allergic.

I am also allergic to cats. But it is not as bad as it use to be. Right now we have a 6 month old golden retriever named Sampson. I wanted to name him Willie Cicci but I got out voted.

I actually just saved a stray cat last week. He just ran up to me while I was working and was so loving. He was also very skinny and I felt so bad for him so I took him home. We found his owners when I took him to the vet because he had a micro-chip in him but the owners didn't want him so now we have a beautiful white/cream colored long haired cat with a little bit of orange on him, and blue eyes.

We still haven't named him yet though. Naming pets has to be the hardest thing for me. Anyone else have trouble with this?

I'm a cat person. Cats are the passion of my life. I like them and they like me. They are difficult and selective, aristocratic and self-centered, moody and unpredictable. Their love is not to be taken for granted. So am I.

I got three cats. They are my furry babies. The boy is the only living being who is allowed to sleep on my stomach. With mutual satisfaction.

I'm a cat person. My cat, OzzieBoy, doesn't live with me. I live with him!

I like dogs too, and if I had the time and room for one I'd invite one to live with me as well, but cats hold a special place in my heart. They're aloof; they want things on their terms, and often get what they want; they're graceful and agile and when they CHOOSE to show you affection you KNOW its real!

My OzzieBoy has been with me for almost 16 years now. We've been through some really rough times together but his love for me has always been unconditional. Sure, I feed him and take care of him, but he more than "earns" his keep by his companionship. He greets me every night when I come home from work and we have our little routine of me picking him up, talking to him, brushing him, etc. He'll follow me around, waiting patiently for a little more attention and when its time for bed he'lll jump up onto it and cuddle next to me, making sure he's close to me.

I can't imagine life without him.

Here's a shot of him (I'm holding him) as Lori's daughter (then 5 years old - about 4 years ago) looks on:

I have a 15 year old cat named Binky. I've always had a cat since my daughter's been born. Binky is maybe the 5th one. Like SC it feels like I live with my cat, instead of the other way around. I think she was born to a pack of dogs, because I swear she thinks she's one. She eats more table food then any dog I know. I don't care what it is. She'd eat steak if she could digest it. When I come home from work she also greats me. If she' not downstairs I just call her name and she comes trotting down the stairs meowing her hello. And she'll only drink out of the bathroom faucet or the toilet bowl. (I told you she thinks she's a dog). She's pure black, and if it wasn't for her white flea collar she'd disappear in the night.

Then he would have been a "buffer" instead of a golden retriever!

We had a cat for 15 years. She was mean and nasty, often biting and hissing at anyone who came close. The only person she liked was Mr. Babe. She was, however, very, very beautiful. The kids always wanted a dog, but we told them that Sterliing would never allow one in the house. When she passed away unexpectedly 4 years ago, they cried for about 15 minutes, and after we had buried her in the backyard, they asked for a dog.

We now have Angel, who looks like a long-haired dachsund with legs. We rescued her from a shelter, and she had been abused. Therefore, she is totally neurotic, and we went through a horrible first year with her, as she suffered from separation anxiety. After 4 months of puppy Prozac, she finally adjusted to the fact that when we left the house, we would eventually return. However, she is still quite needy, and often looks for love and reassurance.

We also have a cockatiel named Shirley. After my daughter named it Shirley, we realized by his coloring that he was male. Mr. Babe feels that this makes him insecure, and constantly calls him Big Man to bolster his masculinity (the bird's, not his own).

We also have a lovely little cat named Stella. She's sweet and adorable and rather loving. Quite a difference from our first cat! She came to live with us last July, and she loves to torture Angel by hiding and then pouncing on her unexpectedly, just to prove the feline's superiority to the canine.

We also have several fish, who Stella likes to torture by peering into their tank.

We like to say that we have the entire food chain - the bird would eat the fish, the cat eat the bird, and the dog eat the cat.

Daisy was a Christmas gift for my Daughter last year, she is the first Bassett I've owned so I'm not really sure. She's just over a year old though so she is still pretty hyper sometimes.

I currently have 3 cats. I never considered myself a cat person until we got our first cat about 7 or 8 years ago. They're very interesting animals. As mentioned above, you have to earn their love and affection.

I've grown to love my cats, and I think of them as members of my family. When our oldest cat died last year, I was absolutely heartbroken.

I've been wanting a dog for a while now. I absolutely ADORE English bulldogs. I'm just not exactly crazy about paying $2,000 for an English bulldog pup.

That's a nice cat, SC. Cats are regal and graceful and in control.

Have you read Cleveland Amory's The Cat who Came for Christmas, and The Cat and the Curmudgeon?

I know of his "cat" books but have never read any. I assume by asking that question you'd recommend those books... I'm still working on getting that baseball book you recommended ("Glory of Their Times")... one at at time, man, one at a time!!

Actually, I know of a good book that deals with speed reading that might allow you to read the three other books tonight.

We got 3 in. of snow today and Sampson had a blast laying in it rubbing his face in it. I had a hard time getting him to come back in the house.
