This farce of a "part 2" of Series 6 has moved one step closer to being a series in its own right: One more episode has been commissioned, bringing the total up to 9 episodes.

Well I'm glad to hear that, but I thought the season started in January??? The article says April!!! Man, they always keep us waiting. That's been the worse thing about The Sopranos. They keep the fans waiting. I can't take it!!!

I think the wait is doing a diservice to the viewers. People lose intyerst and the big hype of the season is a let down and anticlimatic..look at last season..quite a disapointment

I'm happy that they'll be doing an extra episode but it ticks me off that the season will start three months later than they had previously announced.

************ SEASON 6 (PART 1) SPOILERS BELOW **********

I get the impression the storyline is still being developed. One of my co-workers has a cousin on the show (John Bianco, the guy from Frank Vincent's crew who beat Vito to death). He originally told my co-worker that he wouldn't be appearing in the final season (Part 2). A few weeks ago the show's producer told him that he WOULD be appearing (evidently the storyline was changed and he was now "needed").

This MAY mean that Frank Vincent will figure prominently in the last episodes.

I'm not as eager for the new season to start. I want to go back and make sure I have all my 'p's and q's' straight first. Plus, this is it folks, the end of The Sopranos. I am so eager to find out how they are going to end this thing, but not as eager for the series to end.

I've heard from numerous places that after the series ends that David Chase will try to make a Sopranos movie. I'll look it up, but like you I am sad this show is going to end. A&E will start airing Season 1-6 in January.

That sounds rad for sure Duff. I hope it's not just a b.s rumor started on some blog page. Don't wanna get my hopes up for nothing.

I was always under the impression that the actor's(Gandolfini's)lack of interest in renewing the show was the reason for the ending. Was it more HBO's decision to let it go you think? B/c if the actors don't want to keep the show running why would they want to do a movie?

Well David Chase never intended for the series to surpass five seasons let alone six and possibly a film. If Chase wanted the actors to reprise their roles it would only take a lot of one thing...MONEY! Actors who say they have lost desire in a show is their way of saying, "I want more money!"

I wonder if the movie would take over where the series left off or start from scratch in terms of the narrative.

If Chase is contemplating a movie then Tony must live. Otherwise they really would have to write a completely new story.

Exactly, but the last episode's preliminary title is "End of the Line." Now that could mean something or nothing, just as the misleading title, "A hit is a hit," which had to deal with music, not a gang hit. Either way, I'm very excited to see the final episodes, but saddened that the series will end.

All I know is that they have already completed filming 6 of the 9 episodes and will begin re-shooting in early January. I read this a while back and will look for the link.

Gotta be a tie between Phil, Artie Bucco, and whoever is a rat that we hav yet to find out.

The character I least want to die (outside of Tony, of course) is PAULLIEEEEEEE!!! He's hilarious, too bad they gave his character cancer......

I doubt we will see much of Johnny Sac at all this season, I really hate how Chase just put him in prison for 15 years. I think there will be a war between Phil and Tony. I like most of the characters...except for Artie Bucco.

Odds for Death for the Final 9

Paulie Walnuts (cancer) 2-1
Benny Fazio (typical war time casualtie) 4-1
Tony Soprano(it is the final season...) 6-1
Carlo Gervasi (see Benny Fazio)
Phil Leotardo (I want to see him dead!) 10-1
Bobby Baccala (Phil wants to take down a high ranking Soprano member.) 12-1

I agree BDuff. I think that the only way we'll see much of Johnny this year is if he can't take prison and decides to cooperate.
I notice that you didn't put any odds on Christopher getting whacked. Between the drugs and his temperment I just can't see things ending happily for him.

It seems as if Christopher is the favorite to get killed every season so I have given up that theory. He is has always been on drugs outside of Season 5, and I think he is only dead after this season is if he overdoses on drugs. As for Johnny Sac, you're right, I think he may commit suicide in prison. It's a shame what Chase did to finish off his character, he was too important just to throw in prison but I regress.

I think its interesting how you think Phil has a less chance of dieing than Tony.....With Phil's attitude something's gotta happen.

Though I do agree that they HAVE to end the series' with a war. There have been no real big wars in the series yet.

Well I think there is a better chance of Tony getting whacked by Phil than there vice versa. As for the wars that have been on the show. The war between Junior and Tony was indeed small, but Little Carmine vs Johnny Sac in season five was a big war. Most of the season centered around it.

I can't see Tony dying, maybe getting arrested, but not dying.

True, but I meant that we have yet to see a NY-NJ war. There was that Carmine Sr. and Tony quarrell over the HUD profits, but that never escalated the way the infighting of Sack-Little Carmine did. I think thats how it should end, with Tony's crew in an all out war. Im interested to see how Tony would handle such a situation.

Judging by how he took care of Junior in their little war I would guess. Kill a couple of high ranking members would be my guess since in season one he had Chucky Signor and Mickey Palmice whacked. However, with there only being nine episodes the war would have to start in episode one or two or it will be season four all over again!

I'm thinking things will start to get very interesting, a war will be imminent...and then the FBI arrests Tony.

I think it's possible that we'll find out there was a long-term rat in the family who's been helping the FBI build up a case against Tony since almost the beginning. I don't dare speculate on who this could be but it would make a very interesting twist if it were someone close

Pussy and Chris G/f were both rats and the capo who died at start of Season 6.I think there's been enoght rats.

An all out war too end the saga would be best.

Eugene Pontecorvo, who committed suicide the first episode of season 6, was not a capo, Vito was his capo. Eugene was talking about eventually getting bumped up to capo. Which he might have if he didn't kill himself, since Vito was killed later on in season six.
