The term "White Trash" is extremely racist, and people who use it often don't realize that. When you call somebody white trash, you're assuming that all non-white people are trash, therefore feeling the need to include the fact that they're white in order to clarify to yourself that they're not just the "regular" trash out there (blacks, mexicans), but they're white, and obviously it's strange when a white person is trashy!

Every group of people...most people in every group are decent people. Then there are the "trashy" minority segments of each population that become the ugly joke-stereotype mascot for each group.

Spears is white trash, as is a good segment of the population from Louisiana, or as Tennesseans would call it, "Deep South".

Probably most people don't since there are already plenty of derogatory comments and nicknames for black people. Care to try a few of them?
