The only version of any of the Godfather movies I have seen is the DVD version, and I was wondering if there are any deleted scenes that arent included on the bonus disc. If so what are they?

Sure there are. I thought there were extra scenes (not included on DVD) in the GF Saga. I don't know which one that where but there are enough people around here who can answer that question.

Welcome, Don Kyle! By way of explanation: "The Godfather Saga" is regularly shown on TV. It consists of GF and GFII spliced together in chronological order, with all deleted scenes included where they belong logically. The deleted scenes aren't identified as such, so the only way you can identify them is if you've watched the individual GF and GFII films many times and have a good idea of what was, and wasn't, included in the theatrical release versions.
The extra disc in the DVD set contains an allegedly complete set of deleted scenes, with useful time frames and explanations preceeding each. But one omission I noticed:
There's a splendid scene at Anthony's party in which Gardiner Shaw asks Michael for Sonny's daughter Francesca's hand in marriage. At the very end of that scene in the GF Saga TV version, Michael, on his way out of the boathouse, sees a hulking young man in a loud plaid jacket and says, "How are you, Santino?" "Fine, Uncle Michael," he replies (obviously Sonny's son). That part of the scene is not included on the DVD. I also believe that there's another bit of film--Kay telling Anthony to stay away from the boathouse during the party--that's not on the DVD.

There are many deleted scenes that are shown in the Saga but are not included on the bonus disc. I remember one scene from GF2 where Vito and Genco go back stage to see the girl from the play. This particualr scene is longer in the Saga, and you can see Fanucci dancing and singing a little bit before he asks for the money. Then after he takes the money and leaves, the father of the girl starts slapping her for showing up at the wrong time. Remember, Fanucci threatened to kill her if he didn't get the money.

In my opinion, some of the deleted scenes should have been included in the trilogy and there are scenes in the trilogy that could've been cut.

Also, the Bonasera Preparing before Santino's Autopsy Scene is not on the DVD!

The original Fabrizzio murder is not on the DVD.

Connie & Michael in the 1960's is not on the DVD

Does anybody know WHY these scenes weren't present?

What about Pentangeli killing Woltz? wink

Any others?

It's an urban legend - I don't know if it's true or not, and I don't think anybody else has seen it- but supposedly, there is a deleted scene that exists (not on the DVD) where Michael himself kills Fabrizzio with the same lumpara that Fabrizzio totes around in Part I. A picture with Michael wearing a black suit and white hat supposedly came from that scene.

I have heard of this scene, check older treads.

And you liar, teller of tall tales: you trample all the Lord's commandments underfoot, you murder, steal, commit adultery, and afterward break into tears, beat your breast, take down your guitar and turn sin into a song. Shrewd devil, you know very well that God pardons singers no matter what they do, because he can simply die for a song.

Someone once mentioned that this picture was supposedly taken from the original "Fabrizio" killing scene [Linked Image] .

Fabrizzio was one of Michael's bodyguards when he hid out in Sicily after killing McCluskey and Sollozo. Fabrizzio, most likely in his desire to get to America, turned traitor and is assumed to be the one to place a car bomb in Michael's car. Although it was meant for Michael, Appolonia was the one that was killed.

In my opinion, this is the one fault on the DVD set. Why would they include all of these great deleted scenes, then DELETE others? I would love to see every minute of Godfather ever filmed, and I believe we should get all of the scenes from the Saga.

I think some scences weren't need in the movie the movie is long enough the director decided it was best for the scences not to be included in the final film version.

The one deleted scene I'm looking for is on the Godfather epic. Its shows Michael being served by connie or a maid. in the lake tahoe. I wouldn't even call it a deleted scene.

Go, Go! Young man, I hear you and your friends are steeling goods. But you don't even send a dress to my house. No respect! You know I've got three daughters. This is my neighborhood. You and your friends should show me some respect. You should let me wet my beak a little.

i think they should have kept some of the deleted scenes, like the one where they go to pay their respects to Genco, the old consigliere, i especially like when he says, "Maybe if you stay here with me, he'll see you and be afraid."

I'm with you, the scene w/the Don & his sons going to visit Genco should have made the final version. In addition, the scene in which Vito, Tom & Sonny talk about Woltz and sending Luca to 'reason' with Woltz.

IMHO, the two deleted scenes that would have really given Sonny's character more depth were 1) when Sonny calls Tessio requesting 50 men because Sonny wasn't sure who sold Vito out: Paulie or Clemenza 2) when Michael offers to help Sonny & Tessio after Sonny receives the call that it was, in fact, Paulie who sold out the Old Man. I don't know whether I have the exact quote, but Sonny tells Michael: "Even the Old Man will tell you, when it comes to the action, I'm as good as anyone."

Quote
Michael: "You have to answer for Santino, Carlo. Ah, that little farce you pulled with my sister. Did you think that could fool a Corleone?"
