Do you think Puzo should have picked someone eles for writing GFR and if so why did he get the person who finished The Family for him?

Maybe MW was the lowest bid?

Montauk

We might be able to tape the gun behind it.

Before Mario Puzo died in 1999, he signed off on the idea that someone would be hired to continue the saga of The Godfather. In the fall of 2002, Mario Puzo's publisher, Random House, opened a contest to choose Puzo's successor. The winner was Mark Winegardner.

I guess that Random House never read any of Sc's or Turnbull's posts on here!

Don Cardi

Don Cardi cool

Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

I guess Random House never heard of Joe the Greek, either

Thanks, DC, but plawrence is the board's resident poet laureate.

Thanks, SC. I think I copy Puzo's style OK, but I have trouble with plot development.

And anyway, I'm not Italian.

Why does it matter if you're Italian or not?

It was Puzo's Estate which picked this author. Puzo was dead. Estate's notoriously do not make good choices in getting suthors to write sequels. The Gone With The Wind sequel was awful....now I see where the heirs to J.M. Barrie have hired someone to do a sequel to Peter Pan. God help us.

"Io sono stanco, sono imbigliato, and I wan't everyone here to know, there ain't gonna be no trouble from me..Don Corleone..Cicc' a port!"

"I stood in the courtroom like a fool."

"I am Constanza: Lord of the idiots."
