when is the draft order decided?

If you can help it DB you should make it earlier rather than later so people can alter their strategies accordingly.

I think the draft order is randomly decided 15 minutes before the draft begins. If there was any fairness, those who finished last in the standings last year ( ) would get the first picks, and so on. New people pick last.

DJ correctly put it, RB. Usually, Yahoo sets the order 30 minutes before the draft starts. However, if there is a great demand for it, I have the option of setting the draft order manually. If people wanted, I could do my own randomization in advance of when the computer does it.

My feeling is 30 minutes is more than enough time to plan your strategy. At least it's never been a problem for me. If others feel differently, let me know.

I should get the #1 pick for finishing at the bottom last year.

I say let the league pick the draft order. I feel strongly that most of the people here are serious enough players that they are probably tweaking their strategy now. They will go into the draft already knowing their lead picks, along with 2nd and 3rd choices.
