I did see a couple reports on ESPN and Sports Center about The Nats and questioning why they're in first place. Wouldn't you know it, they lost the next game..hahaha. I think I did see a quick peek of Vinny as he was entering the dugout, but they didn't interview him or anything.

Are they televising The Astros game in your area, Gina? If you watch closely you could probably see where I work from the stadium.

ESPN always seems to ignore the "underdog" teams...

That's what else I meant to mention! Yes, I'm lucky to catch most all the Astros games, and when I watched last night, I was just checking out the stadium (Camden Yards) as I usually do when it's a ballpark other than Minute Maid. Suddenly, I remembered what you'd told me...I started looking at the surrounding buildings, and I thought, "Hey! Beth works four blocks from here!" Cool!

On the field where the logos are you'll see "University of Maryland". That's us..haha...which is University of Maryland Medical System. Actually, the long brick warehouse you see in the back, (where the Cal Ripkin 2131 sign hung at), up to 5 years ago I actually worked in that building. Although that building stretches past where the stadium is, so the entrance where I worked at was actuall beyond the gates. So I could never sneak in for a free game. The hospital I work at is not quite tall enough to be seen past the other buildings, but you'll see buildings that I look at every day.

It's like 97 degrees out, with the heat index around 110. If you watch the game, I'm sure you'll see alot of people fainting..haha. I wouldn't put up with that kind of agony even for Vinny.

Well, I saw your University of Maryland Medical sign when the game was just starting!

The heat is terrible here, too. I like summer, and I don't mind a little sun, but it's insane. I could've slapped my cousin today when I saw him in a long sleeved shirt and jean pants. I meant to play baseball outside with him; it's really nice weather in the evening, and I love that it stays bright so long.

Edit: Ouch. They're beating up on us 3-0 now.

Sorry about the beating yesterday, Gina. It's busines...not personal. :p I don't check the rosters of each game so I didn't know Petit was pitching until the game. I thought for sure he was gonna stop us. I actually turned the game off I think in the 5th when it was still 0-0. I was surprised when listening to the radio and we were up 3-0. Andy has always owned The Orioles. I guess heat waves cause strange things to happen.

I did catch the tidbit on ESPN about The Nats game. I saw Vinny come home to make it 4-3. *High fives Vinny*

The Yankees actually won last night 9-0. And played really well. Mike Mussina pitched a great game. But my poor ARod got hit twice by the pitcher. Although he had an elbow pad on to absorb some of the blow, he was rubbing it afterwards like it still hurt pretty bad. Where do I sign up to kiss it and make it better?

Have you heard about Craig Biggio heading toward some kind of record for most HBPs? He's had it happen so many times (not sure which "place" he's in), but they say he's very gritty and is willing to take it if it means he can get on base. Good player, but I feel terrible for him! Hope A-Rod isn't following Craig's lead and going for a record...

Ah, well, I tagged "air fives" as high fives when you can't reach the person, so you just "air five" him.

And...I think we'll leave the rest alone. You've said enough. :p

Ah, now, we get down to the truth!!

Although the Yankees are playing, I must admit to switching between the game and Groundhog Day. It's the part where Bill Murray tries to commit suicide with the groundhog. I love this movie!!

I keep catching just parts of that movie so that I can never know the entire story...though I didn't see it tonight.

Thanks to ESPN, I found a pic:

Not the same, I don't think, but still a good one.

And I like his arms, too, SB.

The Sandlot is on right now. :p I'm switching between that, The Orioles game, and The Dodgers/ChiSox game. It's safe to say I'm getting my sports fix tonight.

GREAT come from behind win for The Sox! Will nothing stop them? Between that and the Benny/Beast chase I don't which was more exciting.

Noooo! I was going to ask which channel, but I assume it's over (Sandlot)?

I have it on tape...

It's just better on TV. Which makes no sense, what with commercials, but I've always liked movies on TV.

I almost watched that today, because I had a friend over and wanted her to see it, but we ended up renting Major League. I love it and hadn't really seen it all the way through (though we didn't finish together), and she got to see it.

SB, I've only seen one part of The Untouchables (baseball bat scene... ), and I've been meaning to watch it in full, so Andy will be a good reason!

Eye candy for Beth:

Well, I'm talking to myself on here, but I keep finding more things to add!

Have y'all been reading some of the articles on mlb.com about the players on Father's Day? They are so sweet! I'll post 'em here:

Astros\' Father\'s Day
This was the first one I read, and I swear, I was about to start crying! I guess I'm too emotional. I just love how these "tough" ball players that are so serious on the field just become such sweeties as soon as they start talking about their children.

Kevin Millar
This was on the main MLB page. Kevin Millar's such a cutie, and this just made me like him even more.

The Whole Shebang!
Okay, I just found this; it's all the articles.

There we go...coming out of the ol' shell, huh? :p But you're supposed to tell us what you think!

SB's probably your best bet for comparing Yanks, but I'm here, so I might as well...

I gotta say A-Rod. I like Jeter's eyes, but A-Rod's just the whole package. (Perfect joke opportunity, I'm sure...) But, I'd take Willy T, Miguel Cabrera, T-Mac, or Manu!

Well said! Makes all of the formerly "sexy" or "hot" guys just seem "cute," (for today.. ) but that's fine...

Glad you liked your candy. I was looking for one of Willy T, but ESPN had 60-something pages of pictures, and I, of course, went through them all...

My God...you're a 'Stros fan? Nice to meet you!

I loved Beltran when he was with us, but after I went through the offseason, realized what a snake Scott Boras is, and saw Carlos run off to NY for 119 mil, I was glad to see him go. ), but he's got a couple of homers and has really been hitting the ball better. I think he's cute, too. I like his braces.

Anyway, great to see another Astros fan around here!
