Come on Yankee fans, get out of the woodwork(since the 2003 ALCS ) and name your All-Time Yankee Squad:

Starting Line-Up:

C: Yogi Berra - Hall of Fame member, 3-time AL MVP, 15 consecutive appearances at the All-Star Game, a member of 14 pennant-winners and 10 World Series championship Yankee teams. Caught Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series.

1B: Lou Gehrig - In the shadows of the Babe and then a young Dimaggio late in his career, Gehrig neverless was a monster of a player in his own right. The Iron Horse hit for 100 runs scored and 100 RBI for 13 consecutive seasons and his career mark with 23 grand slams hasn't come close by anyone else. Won the Triple Crown in 1943 and was a one-time AL MVP. A member of 6 World Series championship squads.

2B: Tony Lazzeri - power-hitting player for the famed Murderer's Row Yankees(along with Gehrig and Ruth) that was a member of 6-pennant winning squads. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1991.

SS: Derek Jeter - I just about put Hall of Fame-member Joe Sewell instead, but Jeter is a really good Short-stop, not to mention a fan favorite(or maybe not, my Yankee knowledge is crap).

3B: Wade Boggs - Newly-elected Hall of Famer who with a career mark of .328 and 3,010 hits along with 5 batting titles(and yes he did most of this with the Red Sox, but so what? He helped the Yanks win the World Series so that validated him for sure. Besides, you gonna turn down Boggs?)

RF: Babe Ruth - Duh!

CF: "Joltin" Joe DiMaggio - He once was paid to sponsor a coffee maker you know...

LF: Reggie Jakcson - Yes hes a right-fielder but I would move him to left field. Not to mention that he doesn't have the injury/knee problems that ole Mickey had.

DH: Mickey Mantle - Yes he was a Center-Fielder, but he was so good I would play him in the easiest position in the outfield over in left field(remember his knees folks). Besides, his bat is what matters the most, folks. I mean him and his 3-MVP trophies, Triple Crown, career .298 batting average along the fact that hes a switch-hitter. Inspired one of the funniest lines in a movie I've ever heard in John Frakenheimer's THE FRENCH CONNECTION II, when the junkie-Gene Hackman cries "Mickey Mantle sucks!"

STARTING PITCHERS(in no particular order):

RHP Jim "Catfish" Hunter - His best years were with the A's but he had a 1975 mark of 23 - 14 record along with a 2.58 ERA. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1987.

LHP Whitey Ford - His career mark of 236 wins along with a record-.690 winning percentage and winner of the 1961 Cy Young trophy. His record of pitching 33 consecutive scoreless innings in the World Series still stands. His 236 career wins is still the team record for the Yankees.

RHP Roger Clemens - Red Sox Nation will be pissed with this, but f*ck them! The Rocket is among the great of greats....

Anyway Yankee fans, tell me who else should be on this team(have to go at the moment). Hell, slam my picks and get "George" to trade me off to Kansas City.

I'm not a yankee fan, but you're forgetting one of the most important positions which is a closer and i think the answer to that question is obvious: Mariano Rivera.

Is this a team of the all-time greatest Yankees, or a team of the all-time greatest players who played for the Yankees?

Big difference.

Boggs didn't have much of a Yankee Career. I'd go with Graig Nettles or maybe Red Rolfe.

I also might prefer Willie Randolph at 2B.

Catfish didn't have much of a career as a Yankee, either.

Ron Guidry without a doubt had a greater Yankee career than Hunter, as did Lefty Gomez, Allie Reynolds, Vic Raschi, Andy Pettite, and Mel Stottlemyre.

Just to name a few......
