I still think Marino, Young, Thomas, and Irvin are going to be elected on Super Bowl weekend.

Opinions?

If anyone is a sure win I think Marino and Young should be tops of the list. I feel bad that Marino never won a Super Bowl, but that shouldn't hinder his chances. I like the idea of Young and Irvin being in the race. I'll make the broadcasts on Sunday NFL Countdown even more fun. Oh, the ego's that will be erupting if one gets in and the other doesn't.

Marino and Young are in for sure and Irvin has a very good chance as well. I may biased but Richard Dent deserve to get in just for what he did during the 1985 season and super bowl alone. He did have a great career besides that season as well.

Busta, I agree with Dent, but also Art Monk, a great Wide-Receiver in his day that is HOF worthy(still, I think the 4 I named are the minimal 4 that will get in this year).

Yeah, it is hard to argue against those guys. Derrick Thomas should definitely be in now that I think about it. It was terrible to hear about his unfortunate death when it happened in 2000 and see not only his NFL career, but entire life end too early.

I would take Marino, Young, Irvin, and Thomas.

Marino - he's a stone cold lock. Statistically the greatest QB of all time, standing at the top of every meaningful QB stat - yards, completions, attempts, TDs. Never won the Super Bowl but led his team to the big game in his second year after passing for 5,084 yards and 48 TDs.

Young - Two time league MVP, MVP of Super Bowl XXIX with a record 6 TD passes. One of the top QBs of the 1990s, leading the league in passer rating several times and in TDs four times. Also is second all time in rushing yards by a QB.

Irvin - one of the top WRs of the 1990s. Was an integral part of 3 Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl teams. Five time Pro Bowler, led the league in receiving yards in 1991 and had 6 top-10 finishes.

Thomas - Nine-time Pro Bowler, had 126.5 career sacks, which was fourth all-time for a LB at the time of his untimely death. Recorded 20 sacks in 1990, including a league record 7 in one game.

I believe he had 7 again in one game again either 98 or 99. He was one of the best linebackers of all time in my opinion and always seemed to be a bit underrated.

I think that it is a shame that Harry Carson has not been selected to the Hall Of Fame yet. In my personel view next to L.T. he is the best linebacker that the Giants ever had. He won a SuperBowl with them and he was a constent Pro Bowler. I hope he makes it this time. Marino is a shoe in this time but I think that Young might have a problem the 1st time around. Just my thoughts.

I agree, but thats unfortunately how the HOF goes sometimes....many very good players fall through the cracks, like Art Monk, Richard Dent, Phil Simms, Ken Anderson, etc.

Apparently, I had missed when the HOF committee had named their 25 Semi-Finalists(before it was cut down for the 15 that I had linked up earlier). Here it is for FYI purposes:

Anyway, long-time HOF candidates like Quarterback Ken "The Snake" Stabler of the Raiders and fellow punter Ray Guy didn't make the Finals list. Tsk!

Yeah DC pretty much nailed it here. So far I'm laughing cause for all the records Peyton Manning has set/will set he has YET to be able to take his team to the big dance. Course I'm not complaining about that either.

No offense to any colts fans here, I just hate them with a passion.
