That happened to you because your DVD is Zone 1, that belongs to USA and Canada. I don't know if there is already a Godfather DVD for Russian Zone.

There are no German or Russian subtitles and I'm not surprised. Very few R1 DVDs have those languages. I am surprised that there are no Italian subtitles though.
