Eagles fans cheered and threw things on the field when Michael Irvin went down with a potentially horrific neck injury that year at Veterens Stadium. They loved the prospect of this guy who had beaten em repeatedly possibly never walking again.

Well now, the Eagles have lost 3 straight NFC Titles, and they have now lost Owens for the year and that'll probably keep Philly outta the SuperBowl again (as weak as the NFC is, Philly could do nothing without Owens yesterday).

I like to call this whole bit of Karma...

"The Curse of the Playmaker"

for when Eagles fans acted like morons and animals when Irvin went down.

Doesn't matter, I still hate the Cowboys & the Eagles should be fine until the NFC championship game. If they make it to the Super Bowl, I'm sure he'll play!

After watching all of the reports on ESPN, I'm not sure if Owens would be permitted to play at all this year, even if they do make it to the big game. Doctors say that even if everything goes well in surgery and recooperation, he will only be able to play a minimal part in the Super Bowl. It's going to take 5 weeks just for him to be able to run IF everything goes perfect with the surgery and training up to that point.

Obviously, the spotlight is now on the rest of the Philadelphia Eagles squad now that their shining star is out for the season. The big question now is if they can still make it to the big game without him. Todd Pinkston clearly is not going to be a big presence at the #1 slot, especially the way he's been playing now. Teams such as Atlanta, Green Bay, and Carolina are said to now have the "tools" to bring down the giant that was the Eagles. Only time will tell.

They said TO bought some special machine to be put in his house to help with the recovery process. Also that 5 week period is for a normal person, they were saying that since his body is in top shape that things *could* heal quicker.

And TO said If they make it to the Super Bowl, ythey are going to need a straight jacket to keep me off the field

Last year it was Westbrook going out at the end, and now Owens. Their defense has had some injuries too. The AFC is tough this years. Philly was the strongest team in the NFC. Now who?? Green Bay? Atlanta?

Maybe it's Jacko's special oxygen machine from his Neverland ranch?

The only reason I even care that TO is hurt is that he was on my fantasy team. The same thing happened to me last year - I was in 1st place heading into the last 2 weeks when Clinton Portis was hurt.

I'm still sticking with my pre-season pick of Seattle for the Super Bowl... and with TO out the Eagles are nothing. I think Green Bay, Atlanta, Carolina can all beat the Eagles.

How ironic that T.O. is having his surgery in Baltimore. Too bad it's not at the hospital I work at. I could see a little "mishap" with records or something like that happening.

Seattle's going nowhere. I still think Phily will go to the SuperBowl

^Yeah, if there defense plays like crap still. They've missed Chad Brown, Anthony Simmons, Grant Wistrom, Tubbs, Hand, and Bernard on and off all year. If they all come back the Seahawks will have a D. And their offense is better than Philly's without Owens. They have Alexander, a good QB in Hasselbeck, two recievers who never hold onto a ball in Jackson and Robinson, but they have Jerry Rice who can make plays and Engram to drive down the field. Seriously, in this crazy season... TO out could mean offense shutdown for Philly could mean upset could mean any of the four teams I mentioned going to the bowl which means the Hawks could face some other team in the championship like Greeny Bay, Atlanta, or Carolina, all of which have faults just like the Seahawks, which means the game could go either way.... which all means that my original pick for the Bowl is helped out a little by TO's injury.
